Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : All right. That is, mentioning some individuals of a general term with a ruling that agrees with the general term does not count as specification. Specification only occurs when some individuals of a general term are mentioned with a ruling that contradicts what? The general term.
All right, who will give an example of this? Yes. The brother. An example, even if it is from your own mind, stand up.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : In some wordings of the hadith, the pointing during supplication in the sitting in prayer is mentioned in some hadiths:
When the Prophet (ﷺ) would sit in the prayer إذا جلس في الصلاة
Sunan Abi Dawud 962Da'if (Al-Albani)
, and in some others
When he sits in the tashahhud إذا جلس في التشهد
. So we say: This does not fall under specification, because it is the mention of some individuals of a general term with a ruling that agrees with the general term.
All right, give an example from your own mind so that we can modify and change it. -Rest-
Who will give an example? No one? Please go ahead.
The student: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
offer your prayers in the way you saw me offering my prayers صلوا كما رأيتموني أصلي
Sahih al-Bukhari 6008
.

The Shaykh : No, an example from your own mind so that we can modify and change it. All right. Rest.
The student: Placing the right hand over the left.

The Shaykh : No, an example from your own mind, meaning you create an example.
The student: You say: Honor the students.

The Shaykh : Yes.
The student: Honor the lazy student.

The Shaykh : ... .
The student: The diligent one. All right.

The Shaykh : All right. Change this one.
If I said: Honor the students, this is general. Then I said: Honor Muhammad, and Muhammad is among the students. Does this imply that we should limit the honor to Muhammad? No. But if I said: Honor the students, then I said: Do not honor Muhammad, and he is among the students, does this become specification or not? Yes, because I mentioned some individuals with a ruling that contradicts the general term.
All right. And we will limit ourselves to these things we have mentioned. May Allah bless you, and praise be to Allah that you have memorized these beneficial rules for the student of knowledge.
