Praying Two Rak'ahs Before Sleep

Question: I have a habit I am consistent in performing, which is that I pray two rak'ahs before sleeping, reciting al-Fatihah and some short surahs in them. Is this permissible or is it a religious innovation?

Answer: What is transmitted regarding what comes before sleep, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), among the etiquettes that are recommended to perform, is that a person should perform wudu before sleeping, sleep on his right side, recite Ayat al-Kursi and the two verses from the end of Surat al-Baqarah, and supplicate with the supplications transmitted from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), which are numerous and comprehensive. As for praying before sleep and committing to this, I do not know of any basis for it in the Prophetic Sunnah.
The Prayer of the Sick Person
By Gesturing with the Hand or Finger

Question: A woman was afflicted with an illness several years ago, so she did not pray except by gesturing with her finger. After her recovery, she made up all the prayers that passed during her period of illness. She also fell ill again and was praying sometimes sitting, sometimes lying down, and sometimes gesturing with her finger. Likewise, after she recovered, she made up all the prayers again. Is her action valid or not?

Answer: First: The sick person prays according to his condition, and he does not make up the prayer,By the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
offer prayer in standing condition; if you are unable to do so, then in sitting condition: if you are then at your sideصل قائمًا فإن لم تستطع فقاعدًا، فإن لم تستطع فعلى جنب
Sunan Abi Dawud 952Sahih (Al-Albani)
, so the sick person prays according to his condition, and he does not make up this prayer because he performed it according to his ability,And Allah the Exalted says:
So fear Allah as much as you are ableفَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
[al-Taghabun: 16] , so he prays it standing, sitting, or lying down, and he gestures for ruku' and sujud with his head. As for gesturing with the hand or the finger, there is no basis for this in the Shari'ah, and it is not considered prayer. So the fact that she made up the prayer is the truth and what is obligatory upon her, because she did not pray, because she gestured with her hand and her finger, and this is not sufficient, and it is not considered prayer.
As for if she was gesturing with her head for ruku' and sujud, because she was unable to do more than that, then her prayer is valid and she does not make it up.
