The Shaykh : Let us move on to the lesson, the hadith lesson. We were speaking about the hadith of 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), which is what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), the truthful and veracious one, reported, where he said:
Indeed the creation of one of you is gathered inside his mother in forty days. Then, for a similar period, he is a clot. Then, for a similar period, he is a piece of flesh. Then Allah sends the angel to him to blow the soul into him, and he is ordered to write four (things): To write his provision, his life-span, his works, and whether he will be wretched or happy.

Yesterday we spoke about the rulings of pregnancy, and we said that pregnancy has rulings that differ from when it is a drop of sperm until it is born crying, with a stable life.
We mentioned among the rulings of pregnancy, if it is a drop of sperm? What is the answer in your view? Please.
The student: The scholars said: It is not obligatory for him, and there is no harm or sin if he causes a miscarriage, because he is not certain that it will develop... and become a human being. This is still a drop of sperm; it may be corrupted or it may be sound.

The Shaykh : Meaning, the permissibility of causing a miscarriage.
The student: The permissibility of causing a miscarriage.

The Shaykh : Good. And is causing a miscarriage and not doing so the same? Or is it better not to cause a miscarriage?
The student: It is better not to cause a miscarriage.

The Shaykh : It is better not to cause a miscarriage, but if there is a need, there is nothing wrong with it. Good. That is one point. Yes.
The student: If it comes down... then the woman does not have, meaning if the blood comes out, it is not post-natal bleeding.

The Shaykh : That if a woman becomes pregnant, the usual case is that menstruation stops. Do you remember a statement from one of the imams in this chapter or in this issue? Good, please.
The student: Imam Ahmad says: The custom of women in pregnancy.

The Shaykh : In pregnancy, menstruation stops.
Imam Ahmad said: "Women only know of pregnancy by the cessation of menstruation".
Also, a very important ruling follows from this. Yes.
The student: She is described as pregnant, and here it is permissible to divorce her.

The Shaykh : Perfect. Rest.
The permissibility of divorcing the woman in this state, even after intercourse. So if it is established that she is pregnant, it is permissible for her husband to divorce her in any state, even if she has not taken a bath from his intercourse.
