What is the ruling on rushing to the circle of knowledge without performing the post-Maghrib sunnah?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Some of the brothers are observed, or it is observed that some of the brothers, rushing to this circle after the Maghrib prayer without performing the two post-Maghrib sunnahs. It is written here, "the two sunnahs," meaning without performing the post-Maghrib sunnah; what is the ruling on that?
Answer: This is a reality that is observed; that is, some of our brothers do not pray the sunnah, neither in the mosque nor at home here. But also, from what we observe, some others consistently maintain this sunnah, or sometimes do. In our opinion, the matter is not difficult; it is easy if we remember the hadith of the Bedouin who came to ask the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) about what Allah had made obligatory for him in terms of prayers. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) informed him of the five prayers every day and night, the man turned away saying, "By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, I will not add to them nor subtract from them." The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) testified for him that if he was truthful, he would enter Paradise. There are hadiths that encourage the Muslim to increase in voluntary prayers, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Indeed the first deed by which a servant will be called to account on the Day of Resurrection is his Salat. If it is complete, he is successful and saved, but if it is defective, he has failed and lost. أوَّل ما يُحاسب العبد يوم القيامة الصلاة ، فإن تمَّت فقد أفلح وأنجح ، وإن نقصت فقد خاب وخسر
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 413Sahih (Darussalam)
, and in another hadith:
And if it is deficient, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) says to His angels: "Look; does My servant have any voluntary prayer? If so, complete his obligatory prayer with it." وإن نقصت قال الله - عز وجل - لملائكته : انظروا ؛ هل لعبدي من تطوُّع فتتمُّوا له به فريضته ؟!
.
This hadith contains a strong encouragement for the Muslim to increase in voluntary prayers; because on the Day of Resurrection, when deeds are weighed, the first thing to be weighed is the prayer. If there is a deficiency in it, this deficiency is made up from the voluntary prayers. But we cannot, and it is not permissible for us, to be more zealous for every Muslim than the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was for every Muslim; that is, we should not exaggerate and say that we must condemn those who do not pray the sunnahs, whether on this occasion or otherwise. Why? Because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did not condemn the Bedouin; rather, he said:
He will enter Paradise if he is sincere. دخل الجنة إن صدق
Sunan an-Nasa'i 2090Sahih (Darussalam)
. But on the other hand, he encourages all Muslims to increase in voluntary prayers for the reason he mentioned in the previous hadith. Therefore, it is sufficient for us and for the questioner with us to know this reality and to remind people of it; meaning, whoever sees someone not maintaining the sunnah, whether the post-Maghrib sunnah or otherwise, should encourage him and remind him of the virtue of maintaining these sunnahs. If he does not respond, there is no harm in that; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) confronted the Bedouin, and he swore an oath: "I will not add to them." And what you see is that he did not pray what he swore to you. Perhaps you saw him not pray once or twice, and sometimes he prayed. As long as the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did not condemn that Bedouin who swore he would not add to the five prayers, it is not for us either to condemn one who did the action of that Bedouin. How much more so if he swore? The oath here is a deeper immersion in condemnation regarding this person who observes the condemnation of those who leave the post-Maghrib sunnah, and others as well.
In summary: We must distinguish between what Allah has made obligatory and what the Wise Lawgiver has encouraged in terms of worship and obedience. What is obligatory, we command with a command, and we condemn everyone who is negligent in any part of it. What He has not made obligatory but has encouraged with encouragement, we also follow the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) in encouraging it, without exaggerating in the encouragement, and we do not create or establish enmity between us and those who may not maintain the sunnah.
Did the adhan sound?

The questioner: ... The question: In the introduction, some of the brothers are rushing to the place; meaning, what spoils ... the passersby ...?

The Shaykh: My brother, our gathering here is in reality something that cannot be hidden; therefore, obtaining what is already obtained is what you are thinking about. And our gathering here, as you see, is a purely academic gathering. So what is the concern behind this gathering and entering?

Another questioner: As a result of running ... the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade rushing to the prayer; he said:
Be gentle. عليكم بالتُّؤدة
, so also, meaning ... .

The Shaykh: Yes, this is your analogy, O Abu Muhammad! [Everyone laughs!]
