Explanation of his saying: (No one has been given a gift better and more expansive than patience).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then he said, (peace be upon him), in explaining the virtue of patience:
Nobody can be given a blessing better and greater than patience. وما أُعطِيَ أحد عطاءً خيرًا وأوسع من الصبر
Sahih al-Bukhari 1469
.
If we link this hadith to a section of the hadith from the previous lesson:
Purity is half of faith الطهور شطر الإيمان
, then he said, (peace and blessings be upon him):
And patience is light والصبر ضياء
, and we said at that time about the secret or wisdom in the Messenger, (peace be upon him), saying that patience is light and prayer is light, we mentioned that light derives its strength and radiance from brightness. In that is an indication that prayer is from patience; for whoever does not have patience for the obedience of Allah, (Mighty and Majestic), does not obey Him and does not pray to Him. From this we understand that a person has not been given anything better for him than patience, because this patience is what provides him with the strength and energy to obey what Allah has commanded and to refrain from what Allah has forbidden.
Similarly, the second hadith, which is the hadith of Abu Hurayrah:
Allah has not given a servant anything better for him and more expansive than patience ما رزقَ الله عبدًا خيرًا له ولا أوسع من الصبر
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 25:682
.
