Explanation of the Book of the Hearts-04a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Abu al-Yaman narrated to us, saying: Shu'ayb informed us from al-Zuhri, saying: 'Ata ibn Yazid al-Laythi informed me that Abu Sa'id al-Khudri informed him that a group of the Ansar asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and no one among them asked him without him giving to him until what he had was exhausted. So when everything he had was spent, he said to them while spending with his hands:
"(Know) that if I have any wealth, I will not withhold it from you (to keep for somebody else); And (know) that he who refrains from begging others (or doing prohibited deeds), Allah will make him contented and not in need of others; and he who remains patient, Allah will bestow patience upon him, and he who is satisfied with what he has, Allah will make him self-sufficient. And there is no gift better and vast (you may be given) than patience." ما يكون عندي من خير لا أدخره عنكم ، وإنه من يستعف يعفه الله ومن يتصبر يصبره الله ومن يستغن يغنه الله ولن تعطوا عطاءً خيراً وأوسع من الصبر
Sahih al-Bukhari 6470
.

The Shaykh : The point of reference is his saying: "And you will not be given a gift better and more expansive than patience," better than patience and more expansive than it. And that is because the patient person endures many things, is not affected by them, and does not become weary of them. And this is undoubtedly good, unlike the one who is not patient, for he does not endure; if he is afflicted with illness, he is distressed, and if he is afflicted with a need, [he is distressed].
