The Shaykh : The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said, in what he quoted from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him): : And it was of his noble character that he did not find anything asked of him that he did not give, and it was not known of him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he denied a beggar. Rather, he gave the gift of one who does not fear poverty, and he lived in his home the life of the poor, and perhaps he would tie a stone to his stomach from hunger. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) was the most generous of people and the bravest of people.
So when what was in his hand was exhausted, he informed them: : meaning that he could not withhold anything from them to deny them, but he had nothing. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged them to be restrained, to be content, and to be patient, and he said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2024Sahih (Darussalam) . These are three matters: First: "Whoever is content, Allah will make him content": meaning that whoever is content with what is with Allah and does not need what is in the hands of people, Allah the Exalted will make him content. As for the one who asks people and needs what is with them, his heart will remain poor, may Allah protect us, and he will not be content. Richness is the richness of the heart. So if a person is content with what is with Allah and does not need what is in the hands of people, Allah will make him content with people and make him noble in spirit and far from asking. Likewise: Sahih al-Bukhari 1427, 1428 And the person who follows his soul's desire regarding chastity will perish, may Allah protect us. He perishes because if he follows his soul's desire and starts pursuing women, he will perish. The eye commits zina, the ear commits zina, the hand commits zina, the leg commits zina, and then the private part commits zina, which is the great sin, may Allah protect us. So if a person restrains himself from this forbidden thing, Allah the Exalted will restrain him, protect him, and protect his family as well. And "whoever is patient, Allah will make him patient": meaning that Allah gives him patience. If you are patient and restrain yourself from what Allah has forbidden you, and you are patient with the need and poverty you have, and you do not persist in asking people, then Allah the Exalted will make you patient and help you with patience. And this is the point of the hadith, because this hadith is in the chapter of patience. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 1469 Because if a person is patient, he bears everything. If hardship befalls him, he is patient. If Satan presents to him the doing of a forbidden thing, he is patient. If Satan causes him to fail in what Allah has commanded, he is patient. So if a person has been bestowed patience by Allah, this is the best thing given to a person and the most expansive thing given to him. And for this reason, you find the patient person, if he is wronged, if people wrong him, if he hears from them what he dislikes, if they commit aggression against him, you find him calm, not rigid and not angry, because he is patient with what Allah has tried him with. Therefore, you find his heart always at peace and his soul at rest. For this reason, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 1469 , and success is from Allah.
That some of the Ansar asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he gave to them, then they asked him, and he gave to them, then they asked him, and he gave to them, until what he had (peace and blessings be upon him) was exhausted
أن أناسًا من الأنصار سألوا النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فأعطاهم ، ثم سألوه فأعطاهم ، ثم سألوه فأعطاهم حتى نفد ما عنده عليه الصلاة والسلامSo when what was in his hand was exhausted, he informed them:
