The questioner : When I wanted to leave the house, and as I was going out in the car, I saw a beast, meaning a cat, and it had died under my car, and I am now confused about my situation, so what is the answer to this? And is anything obligatory upon me?

The Shaykh : The answer to this is that there is no confusion in this, as long as you ran over it with the car without intention, then there is absolutely nothing upon you. And if it was with intention, then if it was to harm this cat and you did so to repel its harm, then there is no blame on you either. And if it was not for its harm, then a person should not have it as his nature to aggress upon the creations of Allah, except for what the Shari'ah has ordered to be killed, in which case killing it is a nearness to Allah, such as the lizard, which is the poisonous gecko. If he kills it, it is a recommended practice (sunnah), for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the killing of lizards. And such as the scorpion and the snake, except that the snake in houses is not killed the first time, but one seeks refuge in Allah from it and drives it away three times. If it returns the fourth time, it is killed. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, O Shaykh. This questioner, Abu Tariq, says: Your Eminence, Shaykh Muhammad, peace and mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you.

The Shaykh : Peace and mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you.

The questioner : He says.
