Questions regarding the actions performed on the day of 'Id.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Here are questions regarding the actions performed on the day of 'Id. First: Is it obligatory to pick up the pebbles from Muzdalifah, or is the recommended practice to pick them up from Mina? Second, the recommended practice is to pick them up from Mina, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Ibn 'Abbas to pick up pebbles for him while he was on his camel, and this indicates that he picked them up from Mina. It appears that he picked them up for him while he was standing at the pillar in order to stone it with them. Second: If a pebble falls from your hand while you are stoning, is it permissible to take from the pebbles under your feet and stone with them? The answer is yes, it is permissible, even if the pebble is near the pool. Third: If one stoned five times and two pebbles fell from his hand, and due to the crowd he went out, took two pebbles, and stoned with them after moving away from the crowd, is this permissible or not? It is permissible. It is permissible because continuity in stoning is not a condition according to many scholars. And if we say that it is a condition, then its loss in such a situation is a dire necessity, a dire necessity, so there is no harm. Now, is it permissible to delay stoning until after the midday prayer? Yes, it is permissible. Until after sunset? Yes, it is permissible. But the removal of the state of consecration will depend on that, because if he does not stone, he does not remove the state of consecration. However, some jurists say: If you do two of three things, you remove the first state of consecration. The three are stoning, shaving the head, and circumambulation. They say if you do two of these three, you remove the first state of consecration. And if you add to that the walking between al-Safa and al-Marwah, you remove the entire state of consecration. Now, does the removal of the state of consecration depend on slaughtering the sacrificial animal or not? In other words, if a person stoned and shaved before slaughtering, does he remove the state of consecration, or do we say he does not remove it until he slaughters? He removes it, and slaughtering has no relation to the removal of the state of consecration. This means that you remove the state of consecration even if you do not slaughter the sacrificial animal. With this, the difficulty that some pilgrims face is resolved, those who give their money to al-Rajhi Company or others for the sacrificial animal. For example, he says: Have I removed the state of consecration, and I do not know if they slaughtered the sacrificial animal or not? We say you have no concern in this, whether they slaughtered it or not, because slaughtering has no relation to what? To the removal of the state of consecration. Now, we ask: Is it permissible to delay the circumambulation and the walking between al-Safa and al-Marwah until night? The answer is yes, it is permissible. Until the next day? It is permissible. Until after the next day? It is permissible. Until the last day of the month, but it is not permissible to delay it beyond the month, the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, because Allah said:
Hajj is [during] well-known months الحج أشهر معلومات
[Al-Baqarah 2:197]
, so it is not permissible to delay the circumambulation until the last day of Dhu al-Hijjah. And even so, as long as you have not performed the circumambulation, the second state of consecration remains upon you, so women are not lawful to you until you complete what brings about the second removal of the state of consecration.
- The call to prayer -
And we ask: If a person performed the circumambulation today and delayed the walking between al-Safa and al-Marwah to the second day, is that permissible? The answer is yes, it is permissible, because continuity between the circumambulation and the walking between al-Safa and al-Marwah is not a condition. However, the best is continuity. As for obligation, it is not obligatory. For this reason, it is permissible to perform the circumambulation at the beginning of the day and the walking between al-Safa and al-Marwah at the end of it, or to perform the circumambulation during the day and the walking between al-Safa and al-Marwah at night, or the reverse, because the matter in this is broad, and continuity is not a condition.
