Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The questioner says: Your Eminence, there is a woman who is trustworthy to us and comes to our home when we request her to remove hair from the hands and thighs. The questioner asks: Is it permissible for her to see my thighs? Especially since I heard a tape of yours titled "General Advice" in which you said that it is not permissible for a woman to see another woman's 'awrah (part of the body that must be covered). Is this case a case of dire necessity?
The Shaykh : Yes, this case is not a case of dire necessity, because removing hair from the thighs and legs is a matter of scrutiny in its permissibility, because hair is part of Allah's creation, and changing Allah's creation in ways other than what Allah has permitted is a whispering of Satan. Allah the Exalted said about Satan:[An-Nisa 4:119] And hair is part of Allah's creation, so it is not removed except where its removal has been prescribed, such as the pubic area, the armpits, and the beard for a man; these are removed. As for the legs and thighs, they are not removed. However, if a woman has a lot of hair such that her leg is like a man's leg, there is no harm in removing it. As for the thighs, if there is a lot of hair on them, another woman should not remove it; rather, the woman who has this hair should remove it herself, because there is no need to seek the help of a second woman. Now, there are means of removing hair, such as cream or others, where the hair is removed simply by wiping it. This should be used, but with the condition that a doctor is consulted regarding it.
In conclusion, hair that we have not been commanded to remove is not removed unless it is excessive for a woman and becomes like men's hair; then she may remove it. There is no need for her to seek the help of a woman to remove it, because removal products are now available and easy to use, so she has no need to seek the help of another woman. Yes.
