The Shaykh : All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment. As for what follows, this is the monthly meeting that takes place on the third Sunday of every month, and on this night it coincides with the sixteenth night of the month of Jumada al-Ula in the year 1404. We ask Allah the Exalted to multiply these meetings with the people of knowledge and with the general public, for they contain great benefits. Among these benefits is the acquisition of knowledge, for in these meetings between scholars, whether in this town or elsewhere, the attendees benefit with a great deal of knowledge according to what the meeting host possesses. Another benefit is that the people gather in this blessed assembly to form bonds of affection among themselves, to unite upon the truth, and to fall under the scope of the evidence indicating the virtue of gathering in circles of dhikr. Another benefit is that a person may have matters troubling him in his heart, whether in his creed, his worship, his morals, his dealings, the society at large, or in broader and wider communities. He may cast what is in his heart in such meetings until it is resolved for him, or until the many difficulties that may be churning in his chest are resolved. Another benefit is that people acquire knowledge by which they benefit others, for knowledge is far more blessed than wealth. If you convey to a person from among the people even a single issue and he benefits from it, then he benefits another with it, and the second benefits a third, and the third a fourth, and so on, then much good is achieved, and the person becomes one of those about whom the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Sunan Abi Dawud 2880Sahih (Al-Albani). Do not think that his saying (peace and blessings be upon him and his family): is restricted to the firmly grounded scholars in knowledge, those with broad knowledge and deep understanding. No, even if you convey a verse from the Book of Allah or a hadith from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and the people benefit from it after your death, you will receive a reward, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2669Sahih (Darussalam). Our meeting in this great congregational mosque in Unaizah will first follow the tafsir, and we began with Surat because it is the first of the latter portion of the Qur'an, which the scholars said it is obligatory for a person to read from in his prayer. In Fajr, one reads from its longer surahs; in Maghrib, from its shorter surahs; and in the rest, from its middle surahs. Its longer surahs are from to , its shorter surahs are from to the end of the Qur'an, and its middle surahs are what lies between them. This is so that when people hear this recitation from their imams in prayer, they may know something of its meaning. And Allah grants His favor to whom He wills. However, there is no harm in us presenting something that the need requires us to present in place of this tafsir, such as a matter that occurs which it is important for people to know the ruling on and its status in the religion of Allah, so we will speak about it, with the permission of Allah Mighty and Majestic. But on this night, our share will be speaking about some of the tafsir of Surat .
