Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “And indeed, it is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds. The trustworthy spirit brought it down upon your heart”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And we return to a verse we recited in the prayer, which is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
(192) And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds. (193) The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down (194) Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners - (195) In a clear Arabic language.
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:192-195]
The pronoun in “And indeed, it” refers to the Noble Qur'an. This sentence is emphasized by the particle *in* and the letter *lam*. *In* and the *lam* are for the revelation,
And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds.
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:192]
for it is revealed from Allah, Mighty and Majestic. So it is the speech of Allah, which He revealed to us. The highest example belongs to Allah. When royal decrees are issued from the royal palace or the royal court, they carry great weight, and whoever contradicts their text or wording is exposed to punishment. This Noble Qur'an was revealed from whom? From Allah
(19) [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger (20) [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position],
[At-Takwir 81:19-20]
, it was revealed from Allah,
The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:193]
, and it is Jibril. Allah named him a spirit because he brings down the spirit,
And thus We have revealed to you an inspiration of Our command.
[Ash-Shuraa 42:52]
, meaning the Qur'an. So it is brought down by the revelation, which is the life of the hearts and the spirit of the hearts.
The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:193]
And which trustworthy one? Yes, a great trust, and not as it was said that he was sent to 'Ali ibn Abi Talib but made a mistake and went to Muhammad. Glory be to Allah! A trustworthy, reliable one,
[Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position],
[At-Takwir 81:20]
, how could he make a mistake in the message? And Allah would have left him in that state until Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) died,
(193) The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down (194) Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners -
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:193-194]
Here it says “upon your heart,” and in other verses it says “upon you.” Why did it say “upon your heart”? Because the heart is the seat of consciousness. So the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) comprehended this Qur'an, and not a single letter, word, or verse fell from it. When the revelation came down to him, (peace and blessings be upon him) would hasten, reading and following Jibril. So it was said to him,
(16) Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. (17) Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. (18) So when We have
[Al-Qiyamah 75:16-18]
meaning Jibril, who is our messenger to you, read it.
then follow its recitation. (19) Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].
[Al-Qiyamah 75:18-19]
Who undertook its clarification? Allah, Mighty and Majestic. And what a guarantor He is. He undertook to clarify this Qur'an to His servants, in wording and meaning. For this reason, there is no word in the Qur'an whose meaning no one understands. By this, I mean that the entire Ummah applying it without knowing its meaning is impossible. It is true that some of the Qur'an is hidden from some people and not from others, and this is clear. But it is impossible for there to be something in the Qur'an that the entire Ummah does not understand. Never.
Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].
[Al-Qiyamah 75:19]
So Allah, Mighty and Majestic, undertook to clarify this Qur'an to people in wording and meaning. And this is the reality, praise be to Allah. So the Book of Allah, since it was revealed to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) until this day, has been preserved, praise be to Allah, by the preservation of Allah. So whoever claims that a single letter has been lost from it, other than the differences among the reciters regarding some letters, such as the *waw* which may be dropped in some recitations, or the *fa*, or the like, whoever claims this is denying the Qur'an and the consensus of the Ummah. There is no loss in the Qur'an. The Qur'an was received by the Messenger from Jibril, and the Companions conveyed it, and what trustworthy Companions they were, and they passed it on to the Tabi'un. Then it remained, the young taking it from the old, until this day, praise be to Allah.
that you may be of the warners - لِتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُنْذِرِينَ
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:194]
And he, (peace and blessings be upon him), was among the warners, and he was the best of the warners, the most patient of the warners, the most knowledgeable of the warners, and the most fearful of the warners of Allah. In which tongue? Yes?
In a clear Arabic language.
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:195]
And this is a great honor for the Arabic language that the great Book of Allah was revealed in this Arabic language. And yet, a clear Arabic tongue. Clear means distinct and clear. It is itself distinct, and it is also clarifying. So this Qur'an is distinct and clear, and it clarifies the truth as well.
In a clear Arabic language.
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:195]
And it is the language of the Arabs, who are the most eloquent of the eloquent. And I say: This is a great honor for the Arabic language that the Qur'an was revealed in it. And the non-Arabs became Arabized in the early period of Islam so that they could reach the meanings of the Qur'an. Because no matter how much a person understands, if his language is not Arabic, he will not grasp the taste of the Qur'an. If his language is not Arabic, no matter how much he understands, he will not fully grasp the taste of the Qur'an. He will not grasp the taste of the Qur'an except one whom Allah has guided to understanding and whose language is an Arabic language. For this reason, the nations became Arabized in the early period of Islam until they were eloquent Arabs in speech. What did al-Bukhari attribute? Yes? Persian. Al-Bukhari was far from the Arabs, but he became Arabized. And so did others. Al-Fayruzabadi, who has *al-Qamus al-Muhit* in the Arabic language, was originally non-Arab, but he became Arabized because it is not possible to understand the Book of Allah or the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) except in the Arabic language. And the Arabic language was flourishing in the early period of Islam. The non-Arabs learned it so that they would be Arabs in their language. But unfortunately, unfortunately, our Arab peoples want to destroy our Arabic language, the language of Islam. Now, in the kindergartens, unfortunately, here in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the kindergartens, they teach the young boys the English language more than they teach them the Arabic language. And glory be to Allah, do they want to produce our sons and children tomorrow in English, far from the Arabic language, until they do not understand the Book of Allah or the Sunnah of His Messenger? Because they will fall in love with this language and love it and speak in it. For this reason, I advise every one who has a child to stay away from these kindergartens, and not to put his sons or daughters in them, because he is responsible for them. And 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) used to beat people when they spoke the gibberish of the non-Arabs. He would beat them. How do you turn away from the Arabic language, the language of your religion, your Book, and the Sunnah of your Prophet, to a non-Arabic language? If the religion is weak in our time, and the foreign language is beloved, taught to boys and girls, what will be the state in the future? It is dangerous. Do we accept that our people tomorrow will not communicate except in English? No one accepts that. And be assured that if we teach our children the English language, it is an honor for the English. For example, they take pride that the Arabs learn their language so that they abandon their Arabic language. So my advice from this place, for the sake of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and to my Muslim brothers, is to stay away from these kindergartens as long as they are on these curricula. And praise be to Allah, the government schools are sufficient for them. Be patient. Leave your son until he reaches the age that qualifies him to enter primary school, for example, and let him enter. And if you want the benefit of your son, sit with him for an hour of the day or an hour of the night and teach him al-Fatihah, teach him the short surahs from the Qur'an, teach him what he needs in his wudu' and his prayer, so that you raise him with a good religious upbringing. As for putting him in a kindergarten whose curricula we do not know, and even if we do not assume ill, the least of what is in it is that it teaches the English language to these boys. Tomorrow their tongues will be tongues of what? What? Foreign tongues. Why, O brothers? Do we not fear Allah? Has not each of us been made a shepherd by Allah and His Messenger over his family? The man is a shepherd over his family and is responsible for his flock. So if a person dies while he has been a deceiver to his flock, meaning his family, because he did not guide them with proper guidance, it has come in the hadith that he
No Muslim is entrusted by Allah with a group of people, and he dies while being a deceiver to them, but Allah forbids him Paradise.
The matter is not light. We are not raising our children to eat us when we are no longer able to obtain food. Rather, we raise them to stand for Allah, Mighty and Majestic, to worship Allah. So we are responsible for them in this regard.
