The questioner : The questioner says: Peace be upon you and Allah's mercy and blessings. I love you for the sake of Allah, and I had hoped to meet your eminence. After that, is it permissible for a man who recites over a person afflicted with possession by the jinn, after the jinn has come upon the afflicted person, to command the jinn to do certain things, such as seeking their help to find the location of a treasure, or to extract the treasure, or to find out if another person is afflicted with jinn possession, or not? What is the ruling of the religion in this? May Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh : It is not permissible except for what was mentioned at the beginning of the question, which is reciting the Qur'an over the one possessed by the jinn. As for seeking the help of the jinn in what was mentioned or otherwise, this is, first, contrary to the practical Sunnah followed by the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and those who followed his guidance. Second, it is contrary to the saying of the Exalted:[Al-Jinn 72:6] So seeking refuge and seeking help are the same in meaning. Therefore, it is not permissible for one who is afflicted in this present age and has appointed himself to expel the jinn from those afflicted by their possession to recite for them some verses and some of the prescribed seekings of refuge in the authentic Sunnah; this is permissible, and anything other than that is misguidance.

And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden.
و أنّه كان رجال من الإنس يعوذون برجال من الجنّ فزادوهم رهقا
