What is the ruling on a Muslim seeking the help of the jinn?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : I am inquiring about the subject of a jinni possessing a human.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : Many publications have been issued warning about the jinn and about possession, and regarding the issue of expelling the jinn through the methods we hear about. We would like to hear your opinion on this topic.

The Shaykh : We often ask about this, and today specifically, a questioner from the West Bank asked me. He said that he attributed this to someone else, but it seemed to me that he was the one meant, that there is a person among the good brothers who has a righteous jinni brother and that he takes news from him. So I spoke with him at length on this matter, and he said to me: If you wish, I will come to you at an appointment you set so that we can give you some details. I said to him: I am sorry, because I believe that seeking the help of the jinn or the brotherhood with the jinn, as they call it today, is a path of misguidance, and that it is not permissible for a Muslim to seek the help of one he thinks is from the jinn, because of His saying, Blessed and Exalted is He:
And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden. وأنه كان رجال من الإنس يعودون برجال من الجن فزادوهم رهقا
[Al-Jinn 72:6]
In addition to that, a Muslim mixes with his human Muslim brother for many years and is confident in him, and if after all these years it turns out that he is not so, and he is like him, dealing with him, understanding him, taking and giving, and so on, how can the human know this person who is from the world called today the beyond of matter? How can he know that he is a Muslim or a disbeliever, or know that he is righteous or wicked? We humans can no longer trust one another. Therefore, we see that this door must be closed absolutely, except only for what is established in the Sunnah from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) first, and from some of the scholars of the Muslims second, foremost among them Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him), regarding the recitation of some verses of the Qur'an over the one possessed by a jinn. This can be said to be permissible, and its benefit is tangible, both in the past and the present. As for expanding beyond this extent, this is not permissible in the Shari'ah, because it is a slippery slope, and because it is possible that this jinni will mislead this human with what he may present to him of news or information that the human imagines to be correct and truthful information. This is what we believe and we testify to Allah with it.
