Can the jinn possess humans? And the response to those who deny it
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : My teacher, regarding the process of a jinn entering a human?
The Shaykh : This cannot be denied. First, because of the apparent meaning of the well-known verse[Al-Baqarah 2:275] , and second, because of the coming of some hadiths. As you know, the Sunnah always clarifies the Qur'an, explains it, and adds explanation to explanation. In some hadiths, it is mentioned that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by an old woman who had a boy who was suffering from seizures. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited some verses over him and addressed the jinn possessing that boy, ordering it to come out. So it came out, and it was as if something like smoke came out of that boy's body. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) continued on his way in what he was engaged in. When he returned, he passed by the old woman again and asked about her boy or her young man. She replied that he was fine, praise be to Allah. Such a thing confirms that the meaning of the verse is according to its apparent text and that there is no room for ta'wil (figurative interpretation) as some contemporary Muslims do today, who try to bring many of the unseen matters close to human minds, especially if these minds are materialistic minds that have not been honored with the honor of faith. The first condition of faith is, as Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) said in the Qur'an in the first verse of Surat al-Baqarah: [Al-Baqarah 2:2] Who are they? [Al-Baqarah 2:3] . We Muslims, and perhaps some believers in other deviant religions share this with us, believe in something called jinn, just as we believe in a third world, namely the angels. This belief and that one are part of belief in the unseen, which does not enter the realm of the tangible and material. Therefore, it is obligatory to believe first in the jinn as a creation of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and that they have, meaning, natures and customs that were mentioned in some authentic hadiths. Among them, related to your question, is what I mentioned to you just now.
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh : And beware of that.
The Shaykh : This cannot be denied. First, because of the apparent meaning of the well-known verse
as one stands who is being beaten by Satan into insanity
كالذي يتخبطه الشيطان من المسThis is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah -
ألم ذلك الكتاب لا ريب فيه هدى للمتقينWho believe in the unseen
الذين يؤمنون بالغيبThe questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh : And beware of that.
