How to move the finger during the tashahhud

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I would like to remind our brothers present here, as I have noticed some of them praying that when they move their finger during the tashahhud, they add a movement that is not prescribed. There is no doubt that moving the finger during the tashahhud is a recommended practice (sunnah), but often the movement becomes confused for some of our brothers from the people of the Sunnah with something else that is not mentioned in the Sunnah, namely lowering and raising it. I have observed in this mosque that the brother imam, may Allah reward him with good for his activity in spreading the Sunnah, has seen some of the people of the mosque moving their fingers during the tashahhud, and this is evidence that the imam, praise be to Allah, is fulfilling his duty of calling to the Sunnah. I saw some of those people and some of our brothers present with us on this trip adding to the movement something that can be described as lowering and raising. I mean this lowering and raising; this has no basis in the Sunnah. Lowering and raising has no basis in the Sunnah. All that the Sunnah brought is only the movement. There is a recommended practice (sunnah) that should be observed during the movement, which is directing the finger toward the qiblah. If you direct it toward the qiblah and move it, do not lower it, because if you lower it, you throw it to the ground, and your ground is not your qiblah; rather, your direction is the qiblah. Therefore, this is the knee, and your hand is on the knee. The first thing you do when you sit is to clasp your fingers and circle the middle finger and the thumb, then you raise the index finger. So you move it and do not raise and lower it; this has no basis in the Sunnah. Rather, you move it in its place. This is what I remind you of, and the reminder benefits the believers. And tell us what you have.
