The questioner : The questioner says: One of the girls was asked by the colleges to which she applied for enrollment to provide a medical examination. The college set a deadline for the medical examination, and if she does not submit it by the specified time, her enrollment acceptance will be revoked. Since this girl is tied to a job at a school in her area and is very far from the college, and she cannot get the medical examination and send it to the university by the specified time, she instructed a colleague to get the examination in her name and take it to the college. What is the ruling on this action, given that this girl is healthy and has no illness? We would like you to answer this question, Shaykh Muhammad?

The Shaykh : This action is forbidden from two aspects. The first aspect is that it is lying, for the woman who was examined is not the woman who is required to be examined. The second aspect is that it is a betrayal of the university, and the ministry behind it, and the state behind the ministry, and the nation behind the state. So it is a betrayal of all these entities. And the consequence of this is that this enrolled student will obtain the degree and use it to advance to a job that is not attained except with it, and the salary will result from that, and this salary will be based on falsehood, and what is built on falsehood is invalid. For this reason, we warn this woman not to perform this action. We say: Do not do it. And we warn others as well from practicing this bad method. And we say: Read the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And Allah will save those who feared Him by their attainment; no evil will touch them, nor will they grieve.
[Az-Zumar 39:61]
And fear Allah the Exalted regarding such a transaction that includes the sins we have mentioned. And we say: Remember the story of Ka'b ibn Malik, Hilal ibn Umayyah, and Murarah ibn al-Rabi', who told the truth to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding their absence from the Battle of Tabuk, and that they did not absent themselves due to an excuse. They told the truth, so Allah saved them. Indeed, He revealed a Qur'an regarding their story that is recited until the Day of Resurrection. A Qur'an that is recited in prayer, both voluntary and obligatory. A Qur'an by which a person worships Allah (Mighty and Majestic) when he reads this story. A Qur'an for every reader who reads it; for every letter, ten good deeds. What a virtue is obtained like this virtue?! For this reason, it is obligatory for the believer to be truthful in his speech and his action, in obedience to the command of Allah the Exalted in His saying:
O you who have believed, fear Allah and be with those who are true.
[At-Tawbah 9:119]
And also in obedience to the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in his saying:
Adhere to truthfulness, for truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. And a man will keep telling the truth and seeking truthfulness until he is recorded with Allah as a truthful one.
And avoiding what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) warned against in his saying:
Beware of lying, for lying leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire. And a man will keep lying and seeking lies until he is recorded with Allah as a liar.
It is regrettable that when someone submits a proposal to responsible entities in this manner that includes lying and betrayal, it is regrettable that some officials in this entity agree to it and process the transaction while knowing the reality and that it is contrary to what was submitted. By doing so, he is unjust to the one who submitted this transaction, unjust to himself, and unjust to the one above him from the one in authority. So it is obligatory for the officials not to favor anyone in a matter that contradicts the system
O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allah is more worthy of both
[An-Nisa 4:135]
.
And the summary of the answer is that we say to this woman who wants to enroll in the university and is far away: If it is facilitated for you to do what is obligatory from what the university asked of you, then that is what is required of you. And if it is not facilitated, then there is no good for you in enrolling in it through a trick.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
