The Shaykh’s note on the difference between the smoke mentioned in Allah’s saying: “So wait for the day when the sky will come with a visible smoke,” and what is mentioned in the hadith.

The Shaykh : And before we conclude our discussion of this verse from the six verses, namely the smoke, I would like to mention that the preceding verse apparently does not refer to the smoke that is one of the signs of the Hour. It is established in the two Sahihs from the hadith of Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the smoke mentioned in the verse afflicted the polytheists during the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Therefore, the smoke mentioned in the hadith is not the same as the smoke mentioned in the verse. We stop here to complete the commentary, if Allah wills, in the next lesson on the rest of the hadith.
