A Note on the Distinction Between the Smoke Mentioned in His Saying (Glorified and Exalted is He): “So wait for the Day when the sky will come with a visible smoke”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Before I conclude my discussion of this verse among the six verses, namely the smoke, I wish to remind you that the preceding verse:
Then watch for the Day when the sky will bring a visible smoke. فَارْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُبِينٍ
[Ad-Dukhan 44:10]
appears not to refer to the smoke that is one of the signs of the Hour. It is established in the two Sahihs from the hadith of Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the smoke mentioned in the verse afflicted the polytheists during the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Thus, the smoke mentioned in the hadith is other than the smoke mentioned in the verse.
And we stop here to complete the commentary—may Allah will it—in the next lesson on the rest of the hadith.
