How does the process of the jinn listening from the sky take place? Is it true that they climb up until they reach the sky? And do they know the unseen?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Regarding knowledge of the unseen, we know that no one knows the unseen except Allah in the heavens and the earth. But how does the process of the jinn listening and giving information to some fortune-tellers take place? And is it authentic that they climb up until they reach the sky, and thus the listening takes place? And if the listening from there is completed, how does the process of listening from the sky take place?

The Shaykh : This used to happen before Islam, where a jinn would steal the listening, hear something, and then throw it into the ear of his companion from among the humans. He would add ninety-nine lies to what he had heard, and he would teach that to his companion from among the humans, who would then speak. He would hit the mark with what he had heard from the sky and miss with the rest. But this has been cut off, and this is a specific attribute of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The jinn do not know the unseen. The unseen has two meanings: the unseen of what will be, and the unseen from some minds and intellects. This second type is possible for some people from among the humans to know, let alone the jinn. The jinn—and here lies the misguidance of some humans—are those who are sought to discover some lost or missing items. Given the ability that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has given the jinn, they may have the capacity to discover a lost thing more than humans do. So he does not know the unseen; rather, his circle of knowledge of reality is wider than the circle of humans in general. This knowledge, which is specific to the jinn in knowing some occurring matters and not future ones, is imagined by some people to be knowledge of the unseen.
Nevertheless, this knowledge and this discovery of some of reality does not give the jinn complete authority. The evidence for this is the story of Sulayman (peace be upon him) when he stood to pray and death came to him while he was leaning on his staff. He remained in that state as long as Allah willed him to remain, until the ants came and began to eat the staff from the bottom until it shortened and he fell. The jinn did not know—the jinn who were ruled by Sulayman (peace and blessings be upon him), meaning they were slaves, and they were captives as a miracle from Allah (Mighty and Majestic) that He gave him—they were not able to escape by their knowledge of the unseen, because they do not know the unseen, except when they saw that Sulayman (peace be upon him) had fallen to the ground. This is mentioned in the Qur'an in a verse that I do not recall at the moment, and it is well known, praise be to Allah.
Yes?

The questioner :
But when he fell, it became clear to the jinn that if they had known the unseen فَلَمَّا خَرَّ تَبَيَّنَتِ الْجِنُّ أَنْ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ الْغَيْبَ
[Saba 34:14]
.

The Shaykh :
they would not have remained in humiliating punishment. مَا لَبِثُوا فِي الْعَذَابِ الْمُهِينِ
[Saba 34:14]
.
Yes.
So the jinn, like the humans, do not know the unseen. All that is the case is that the energy and capacity of the jinn in knowing reality is wider than that of the humans. So they enslave the humans with this wide knowledge, and they claim that they know the unseen. And some humans, due to their ignorance of this reality, believe in that. For this reason, He (the Exalted) said:
And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden. وَأَنَّهُ كَانَ رِجَالٌ مِنَ الْإِنْسِ يَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالٍ مِنَ الْجِنِّ فَزَادُوهُمْ رَهَقًا
[Al-Jinn 72:6]
; and therefore it is not permissible for a Muslim to establish any relationship between himself and a person from the world of the unseen who claims to be from the jinn.
As for marriage between humans and jinn, this is a tale of superstition. These many centuries have passed for the Muslims, and it has not been transmitted from anyone whose knowledge, righteousness, and piety are trusted that he married a human woman, except for what the Hafidh Imam al-Dhahabi mentioned in his book Mizan al-I'tidal in the biography of the one called "Muhyi al-Din ibn Arabi." He reported from ibn Arabi that he used to say: It is not possible for a human to marry a jinn woman because of the difference in the nature of their creation. Until one day he was seen with his head wrapped in a bandage. When he was asked about that, he said: I differed with my jinn wife, and she threw a pot at me, and it split my forehead. So this is the bandage! Then the Hafidh al-Dhahabi said... Humans were created from dust of clay, and the jinn were created from a smokeless flame of fire. Therefore, marriage between them is not possible. And when we say this, we say it on the basis of the jinn remaining in the reality of their creation. But if they develop into a human, because they have that possibility as some texts indicate, then that is another matter.
