Sometimes an individual feels that his faith is weak and that he has begun to drift away from acts of obedience; how should such a person be guided?

The questioner : The questioner says: Sometimes an individual feels that his faith is weak and that he has begun to drift away from acts of obedience; how should such a person be guided, Shaykh Muhammad?

The Shaykh : There is no doubt that a person cannot maintain a single level of faith and presence of heart at all times; rather, a person is in one state at one moment and another at the next. For this reason, we were commanded to perform acts of obedience at different times: the Fajr prayer, then the Zuhr prayer, then the 'Asr prayer, then the Maghrib prayer, then the 'Isha' prayer, and then the Tahajjud prayer. All of this is to keep the remembrance of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) alive in our hearts, because a person is bound to experience periods of laziness regarding the obedience of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Therefore, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Sometimes one way, sometimes another ساعة وساعة
This means that there is a time for worship and a time for intimacy with one's family, gathering with them, and talking to them, and the like. However, a person must always monitor his heart and strive to purify it from doubt, shirk (associating partners with Allah), resentment, and hatred toward Muslims, and other things that harm the heart.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
