Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : ... I know, we are a group, there is a question ... in "Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim":
The black seed is a cure for every disease except death الحبة السوداء شفاء لكلِّ داء إلا السام
, and al-sam is death, does ... the person take the black seed or is this hadith that it means there is ... in your hadith ...?

The Shaykh : The hadith is a valid hadith, there is no doubt in it, but this hadith is obligatory.

The questioner : Is there exaggeration in it, meaning?

The Shaykh : It is obligatory, there is no exaggeration, the words of the Messenger - peace be upon him - are all truth and sincerity, but it is obligatory that it be studied with a medical and Sharia study at the same time; because all medicines, even the material medicines that have become today, or at least some of them, their effect is certain; so all these beneficial medicines by experiment must be taken in specific quantities, so penicillin - for example - to lower the fever, if a small amount is given it will not have an effect, if a large amount is given the patient may die from it; so everything is by measure and a specific proportion; so that hadith is as he said - peace be upon him -, but the person comes to take - for example - a handful of the black seed and grinds it, and comes to eat it by any means, drink or food or so on; this may cause for him, meaning a fever that is fatal to him!

The questioner : High fever.

The Shaykh : And if he took, yes, high fever, and if he took from it a very small proportion, one or two seeds, no effect will be obtained; so the one who wants to use this seed must know the proportion that suits every disease,

, so these diseases are many; therefore this hadith, although it is from the hadiths reported in "al-Sahihayn", and from the wonders of Prophetic medicine, but the matter - as they say - is covered by a straw; meaning the person has to strive to discover the proportion that suits this disease and that disease, and here is a field for ijtihad and research.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
