Continuation of the explanation of the hadith: ( ... He said: Yes, O servants of Allah, seek medical treatment, for Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has not placed a disease without placing a cure for it ... )

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He said (peace be upon him):
Usama ibn Sharik said, "I was with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, when some bedouins came. There were many people on all sides. The people were silent and no one spoke except them. They said, 'Messenger of Allah! We experience difficulty in such-and-such and such-and-such' and it was in things which are not harmful to people. He said, 'Servants of Allah! Allah has removed difficulty except in a case where a man slanders someone unjustly - that is the one who is in difficulty and destroyed.' They said, 'Messenger of Allah, can we make use of medical treatment?' 'Yes, servants of Allah,' he replied, 'you can make use of medical treatment. Allah Almighty did not create an illness but that He made a cure for it - except for one disease.' They asked, 'And what is that, Messenger of Allah?' 'Old age,' he replied. They said, 'Messenger of Allah, what is the best thing that a man can be given?' He replied, 'Good character'." نعم يا عباد الله تداووا ، فإن الله - عز وجل - لم يضع داءً إلا وضع له شفاء
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 14:33
. Is this report from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)? Because Allah has not sent down a disease without sending down a cure for it, encompassing all diseases, so that no disease remains that cannot be cured? The Messenger (peace be upon him) said: Except for one thing, which is old age, which is usually accompanied by death. So there is no cure for that. That is, as Ibn al-Wardi or others said:
"Death is decreed upon creation, so how many *** groups have been broken and how many dynasties have been destroyed"
So death is decreed upon every living being, and no living being remains in this universe except the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting (Glorified and Exalted is He); therefore, in his saying:
Except that He has provided a cure for it إلا جعل له شفاء
, he (peace be upon him) excepted old age because it is a harbinger and companion of death. No person grows old without death following him, and there is no escape from that. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Allah Almighty did not create an illness but that He made a cure for it - except for one disease. فإن الله - عز وجل - لم يضع داءً إلا وضع له شفاءً غير داء واحد
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 14:33
. They said: What is it, O Messenger of Allah? He said:
Old age الهرم
. He mentioned old age, and the lam in it means: death, because death, as we said, comes after old age necessarily. But death may come to a young man, and death may come to a small child. But when a person grows old, there is no escape, for he prepares for the near death. Therefore, death was explicitly mentioned in some authentic hadiths, such as his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
There is healing in black cumin for all diseases except death. الحبة السوداء شفاء من كل داء إلا الموت
Sahih al-Bukhari 5688
. Here he explicitly stated what he did not say as old age; he said:
Death الموت
; because the old age intended here is the actual old age that is a harbinger of death.
