A group from the Takfir faction claims that one who repents from major sins in this world will be punished in the Hereafter because his repentance did not fully purify him from his sins, as the prescribed legal punishments do.

The questioner : We have told individuals from the Takfir faction that those who commit major sins may be forgiven, or they may enter the Fire for a specific period and then be brought out, without remaining in it forever. They said that these people repented in this world, but their repentance did not fully purify them from sins, as if the legal punishments were not carried out against them, for example. They cited a hadith to the effect that
Some people, Allah Mighty and Majestic will remind them of their sins on the Day of Resurrection, and then they will say, "My Lord, I have repented, I have repented." من الناس من يذكره الله عز وجل بذنوبه يوم القيامة ، ثم يقول رب قد تبت قد تبت
So what is the extent of the authenticity of this statement and this hadith?

The Shaykh : As for the hadith in this wording, I do not know it. And you, as a student of knowledge, must know how to handle such matters. When one of these people who call themselves the Hijrah and Takfir group tells you about a certain hadith, instead of waiting for an opportunity to gather withThe Shaykh : the one you are afflicted with, who is Al-Albani, and asking him what this hadith is, you should address the question directly to him. Tell him, "Where did you get this hadith from? Is it an authentic hadith, and who narrated it in this form?" We must put a limit to these people arguing with whatever they please, and then it will be a relief for us. I swear by Allah, I did not know this hadith nor have I heard it until this moment. Perhaps, because he is interested in this hadith, he finds it in a book and tells you, "For example, al-Bazzar narrated it." And I, at that point, would immediately go back and check al-Bazzar. But now, if I want to check, what would he check? Hundreds of books, and this is how you get it, or we do not get it. As for the interpretation you mentioned earlier, this is evidence that the group is innovating. Where did he get the idea that this person repented, but his repentance was not sincere? The one who repented but his repentance was not sincere, is he a sinner or not? He is a sinner. So, will these people be forgiven or not? Then, stick to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills إِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يَغْفِرُ أَنْ يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَلِكَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ
[An-Nisa 4:48]
Because this verse is, in reality, the backbone-breaker for these ignorant people, because the text is comprehensive and exclusive, as the scholars say:
does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills لا يَغْفِرُ أَنْ يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَلِكَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ
[An-Nisa 4:48]
It forgives what is less than that, meaning it forgives what is not shirk (associating partners with Allah). What are major sins? What is a major sin? This is a foreign philosophy in Islam. And these people are the tails of those Khawarij who rebelled against the Commander of the Faithful, and it became their doctrine to rebel against all the Caliphs who came after him.

The questioner : ... of what kind...

The Shaykh : Is there something? It is clear to you that you are a very patient man. Patience in everything except in knowledge. Is that your question? Excuse me, there is a question here.
