The questioner : This may fall under the category of social courtesy, O Shaykh Muhammad. What is the ruling on social courtesy as well?

The Shaykh : Social courtesy is the same thing. If the social courtesy involves something forbidden, it is not permissible, because that is compromising with the truth. But if it involves something permissible that the person does not like, and he only mentions it to please his companion's heart, then, as I said, it is interpreted charitably; it is good in your view, though not in mine. Then, if he sees that it is not good, he should advise him.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
