Speaking about those who wish to take the short, erroneous path in order to reach the Muslim state.

The Shaykh : The Salafi call does not recognize any form of partisanship, even if it is carried out by the greatest scholar in the Salafi call. The mere fact that one calls for partisanship and blocs means that he has begun to deviate from the straight path. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in an authentic hadith, when he was sitting among his Companions, that he drew a straight line on the ground and recited the words of Allah the Exalted: [Al-An'am 6:153] He then drew short lines around the straight line, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: These paths are not only the old Sufi paths, but also these new political parties, each of which... These paths in the past adopted ideas and beliefs that had no relation to politics, such as the Mu'tazilah and the Murji'ah, and the like. Some of them adopted a political methodology, such as the Khawarij, for example, whose religion includes—peace be upon you and Allah's mercy and blessings, welcome—rebellion against the imams and rulers of the Muslims. So I say that these short paths to which the Messenger (peace be upon him) referred gather all the paths, all the schools of thought, and all the methodologies that do not walk on the straight path, and that adopt the view that "the end justifies the means." No Muslim is unaware of some of the verses we mentioned regarding the prohibition of division and partisanship. But the answer they give is that the public benefit now requires it. We say that public benefit does not consist of contradicting the Shari'ah, especially if it leads to dividing the Muslims into sects and parties. [Al-Mu'minun 23:53] And I know from my experience that those who engage in such blocs and partisanship admit that the scholarly path followed by the Salafis is, without doubt, a path that no one can contradict them on. But its duration is long, and very long indeed. When will the Muslim state be established? When will we eliminate the disbelievers who have occupied our lands? When will we establish the Islamic state in our lands, where foreign law is imposed on us? And so on. We say that we are not responsible, first, for when that will happen, and second, these matters cannot be treated like economic matters. For example, they set specific years to raise the standard of living or a certain type of work, which is systematic with them, to a limited level. These are matters of the unseen that cannot be determined at all. Rather, we must walk on the straight path. If we reach it, it is by the grace of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and if we do not reach it, we have done our best and explained our excuse, and we hope that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) will not hold us accountable because we walked on the straight path. As for these lines, I hope you will note with me that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was pointing to a very precise meaning when he drew a long line and said: As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 65:197 Then on both sides of this long line were short lines. He meant what I heard with my own ears in Damascus more than ten years ago. One of the partisans said to me: "There is no doubt that the path you are following is a sound path, but it is very long. When will you arrive? When do you want to establish the Muslim state? As for us, we will establish it." How will its establishment be? Through slogans, through political blocs, and the like. Then many years passed for many of these people, and the previous military regime said, "Stay in your place." Did they benefit from it with knowledge? Did they correct their creed with it? Did they correct their behavior with it? Did they correct their worship with it? Absolutely not. Fifty years, thirty years, "Stay in your place." As for those who walked on the straight path, they are walking with the gait of the tortoise, which is cited as a parable when it raced with the rabbit. Where is this mentioned? In Kalilah and Dimnah, or where? The tortoise arrived before the rabbit. Why? Because it was diligent. It walked slowly, but it arrived, while the rabbit was preoccupied with other matters. On this occasion, I mention two verses by the pre-Islamic poet who is cited as a parable, Imru' al-Qays. When he says, "By Allah, we are more deserving, by Allah, to take wisdom from this pre-Islamic man, even though we are Muslims and he is a disbeliever." He said:
"My companion wept when he saw the road ahead of him and was certain that he would not reach Qaysar."
"So I said to him, 'Do not let your eyes weep, for we are only striving for a kingdom, or we will die and be excused.'"
This was a pre-Islamic man who wanted to reach the point of becoming the king of the Arabs. So he said to him, "Do not be sad. We are walking on the path. Either we will reach the kingdom, or we will die and be excused." By Allah, this must be our way. We walk on the path of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). If we are able to establish the Muslim state, or before that, the Islamic society—do not imagine that an Islamic rule can be established in a non-Islamic society. It is obligatory, before anything else, to create the Islamic society, because that is what will accept the Muslim ruler. A non-Islamic society will not accept the Muslim ruler, because revolutions and much, much opposition will arise against him. And the reality of the Arab world today is, unfortunately, well-known and famous, even though there is no one who has established an Islamic system. If an Islamic system were established, it would not be just one state that would rise against it; the entire state would rise against it. Therefore, we must walk on the straight path. If Allah wills, our Lord will lead us to the goal, or we will die and be excused.
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way
وأن هذا صراطي مستقيمًا فاتبعوه ولا تتبعوا السبل فتفرق بكم عن سبيلهThis is the path of Allah, and these are paths on either side of the straight line, and at the head of each of these paths is a devil calling people to it.
هذا صراط الله ، وهذه طرق على جانبي الخط المستقيم ، وعلى رأس كل طريق منها شيطان ، يدعوا الناس إليهeach faction, in what it has, rejoicing.
كل حزبٍ بما لديهم فرحونAnd this is My path, straight.
وأن هذا صراطي مستقيمًا"My companion wept when he saw the road ahead of him and was certain that he would not reach Qaysar."
