Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The questioner says: What is the ruling on excessive strictness in Islam? Please explain it to us from the Book and the Sunnah?

The Shaykh : Excessive strictness in Islam means being severe in Islam, going too deep, and being overly rigid. Its ruling is that it is ruin for a person, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The excessively strict ones are ruined, the excessively strict ones are ruined, the excessively strict ones are ruined هلك المتنطعون، هلك المتنطعون، هلك المتنطعون
And the religion of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, is the truth between the one who exaggerates in it and the one who neglects it. So going too deep, being overly rigid, and imposing on oneself what is not required of him, all of this is ruin. And the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
