Al-Huwaini: It is reported in a hadith of Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed two rak'ahs after the Maghrib prayer upon his arrival at Muzdalifah. Are these two rak'ahs the Sunnah of Maghrib, or what are they?

The Shaykh : How was it reported?
Al-Huwaini: That the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) prayed two rak'ahs after the Maghrib prayer upon his arrival at Muzdalifah. Are these two rak'ahs the Sunnah of Maghrib, or something else distinct from the Sunnah of Maghrib?

The Shaykh : We do not know this hadith; where is it from? Did you attribute it to a source?
Al-Huwayni: No.

The Shaykh : FromThe questioner : ? FromThe questioner : ؟.

Another questioner : Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen cited this hadith; it is the hadith of Ibn Mas'ud.

The Shaykh : To whom did he attribute it?

The questioner : To Ibn Mas'ud himself.

The Shaykh : No; from the compilers among the people of...

The questioner : Al-Bukhari.

The Shaykh : Al-Bukhari. This is between you and me; if this exists, because I am not remembering it, but I think that Abu Ishaq al-Sabi'i is in its chain. If we are able to review it in a library, we will review it, if Allah wills. As for me, I do not remember such a hadith. Yes.
Al-Huwaini: We heard a fatwa from you saying...

The Shaykh : Excuse me... let us benefit from what he said. The Shaykh : Ibn Uthaymeen regarding this hadith after he cited it.

The questioner : He mentioned from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud that he was at Muzdalifah and prayed Maghrib before Isha al-Akhira, and prayed two rak'ahs after it, then he ate dinner, then he ordered a man to give the adhan and he prayed Isha as two rak'ahs. This is in al-Bukhari.

The Shaykh : No problem... we understood this. What did he derive from the hadith in terms of fiqh?

The questioner : He built upon it, saying: If you arrive at Muzdalifah before Isha al-Akhira, you pray Maghrib and wait until the time of Isha enters.

The Shaykh : What did he call these two rak'ahs?

The questioner : He mentioned them, but in the hadith it is...

The Shaykh : Where is the book...?
Al-Huwaini: Page...

The Shaykh : Okay, otherwise.
