What is the ruling on eating with a spoon for one who is able to apply the Sunnah?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I want to move from this example in some countries to another example, which is more precise and more difficult. You all know that it is established from the authentic Sunnah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to eat with his right hand, and he used to eat with three fingers. Now, this Sunnah has been completely abandoned; none of those who applied this Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), their role model, eat their food with three fingers. And now, to be realistic, sometimes the food is liquid, and the questioner asks: how did they eat these foods that are liquid? If you try to take it with three fingers, you will not get anything significant, and Allah knows best. They probably used what is called today "yogurt," meaning small plates, and they would drink from them. Now, foods like rice, for example, are not eaten with three fingers, because in reality, the one who wants to eat with three fingers will be forced to apply the Sunnah.

The questioner: Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh- And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah and His blessings - May his nose be ground down, and that is his saying (peace be upon him)
A handful of food is sufficient for the son of Adam to keep his back straight. بحسب ابن آدم لقيمات يقمن صلبه
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 48:32
So he eats mouthfuls and is content with that, but not every person is content with this, even though the matter is a matter of encouragement and not a matter of prohibition. So a person may eat until he is full and not exceed that. Now, I see that eating with more than three fingers, in addition to being contrary to the Sunnah, exposes the eater to violations that may not be prescribed. And therefore, I see, in this state, that the one who eats should use a spoon, because it helps him, first of all, not to contradict the Sunnah. And when I say this, I mean what I say, because the one who eats with a spoon, although he did not eat with three fingers, he is still contrary to the Sunnah, for he ate with a fist.
