The questioner : When I finish supplicating to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), humbling myself before Him, and weeping out of fear of Allah, I am firmly convinced that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) will respond to me and that Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) loves me. Is my belief permissible?

The Shaykh : Yes, this belief is permissible; indeed, it is required that a person have good expectations of his Lord. If he is granted success in his deeds, he should hope for acceptance. If he supplicates to Him, he should hope for a response, and so on. For Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) says in the Holy Hadith:
I am just as My slave thinks I am, (i.e. I am able to do for him what he thinks I can do for him) and I am with him if He remembers Me. أنا عند ظن عبدي بي وأنا معه إذا ذكرني
Sahih al-Bukhari 7405
Having good expectations of Allah is among the causes of acceptance and response. However, a person should not become arrogant with his deeds and say, "Who am I? I am the one who did this, I am the one who did this," meaning in his heart. No, he should not say this, because whatever he does, he does it for himself, and Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) is free of need of him, as Allah the Exalted said:
They consider it a favor to you that they have accepted Islam. Say, "Do not consider your Islam a favor to me. Rather, Allah has conferred favor upon you that He has guided you to the faith, if you should be truthful."
[Al-Hujurat 49:17]
If someone asks, "Does a person rejoice when Allah grants him success in supplication or worship?" The answer is: Yes, he rejoices, is pleased, and hopes for good. There is a hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever rejoices with his good deeds and grieves over his evil deeds, then that is the believer among you. من سرّته حسنّته وساءته سيّئته فذلك المؤمن
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2165Sahih (Darussalam)
Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good. The questioner says:
