The questioner : In his final question, this questioner asks: What are the characteristics of the seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without reckoning, and what is required of one who lacks any of these characteristics? May you be rewarded.

The Shaykh : The characteristics are those mentioned by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
They are those who do not use charms nor cauterise themselves nor seek omens and who rely on their Lord. هم الذين لا يسترقون ولا يكتوون ولا يتطيّرون وعلى ربهم يتوكّلون
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 911
They do not seek ruqyah. لا يسترقون
meaning they do not ask anyone to recite over them when they are ill,
They do not cauterize. ولا يكتوون
they do not ask anyone to cauterize them,
They do not take omens. ولا يتطيّرون
they do not take omens,
And they rely upon their Lord. وعلى ربهم يتوكلون
This does not include one who presents himself to a doctor for medicine, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not say "they do not seek medical treatment." He said:
do not cauterise and practise charm لا يكتوون ولا يسترقون
Sahih Muslim 218a
Unless a person attaches his heart to the doctor, and his hope and fear regarding the illness are attached to the doctor; this diminishes his reliance on Allah (Mighty and Majestic). A person should believe, when he goes to doctors, that this is part of taking the means, and that the cause is Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) alone, and that He is the one in whose hand is healing, so that his reliance is not diminished. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you.
