The students' attempt to reconcile the Shaykh with Yusuf al-Barqawi.

The questioner : Correct, these are our dear brothers, and I mean, my brother Ali and my brother Murad respect us greatly. A while ago, they came and visited us when our father passed away. The Shaykh : May Allah have mercy on Ali. And you know, in gatherings like this, the discussion and conversation increase, and one topic leads to another.
The Shaykh : Eastern and Western.
The questioner : Yes, indeed, until we reached the topic of al-Barqawi. Naturally, we spoke a lot, and there was talk and differing viewpoints, and in the end, we did not agree on anything. The talk that took place, of course, was not what we love, and so on. We told them, "O brothers, if you do not love us once, we also do not love you multiple times." And glory be to Allah, this matter is not in our interest, nor is it in the interest of the da'wah, and so on. But you should know thatThe Shaykh : he has a legal viewpoint which we believe to be correct, if Allah wills, one hundred percent. Yes, indeed.
The questioner : Did he agree?
The questioner : He agreed.
Another questioner: What is the viewpoint?
The questioner : The viewpoint is that he should repair what he has corrupted and repent to Allah.
Questioner: Who is he?
The questioner : Yusuf al-Barqawi.
Questioner: Not Yusuf al-Qaradawi?
The questioner : No, no, it is not him. In the end, he said that we want, we and you, meaning, we will bring AliThe Shaykh .
The Shaykh : He is coming, he is coming.
The questioner : He is coming, yes, and we want to put pressure onThe Shaykh : , even in matters where perhapsThe Shaykh : he bears some responsibility, for the sake of Allah first, and lastly, for the benefit of this work and the da'wah. And by Allah, O Shaykh, al-Barqawi's role is increasing day by day over the brothers. I mean, no one among the brothers can say a word in the mosque. The last thing is that this mosque, which this Kuwaiti brother donated, we are done with it... I mean, my teacher, if someone says a word to al-Barqawi or something, and more important than all that, O our Shaykh, we believe We ask Allah the Exalted to prolong your life.
Another questioner : Amen, O Lord of the worlds. There is no power nor strength except by Allah.
The questioner : And if Allah wills, it will be the conclusion of righteous deeds and many good deeds.
The Shaykh: Amen.
The questioner : So you know, O Shaykh, that Allah has decreed for you... to leave us with a good reputation and forgiveness, and a good reputation and pardon for these people, and you will have the reward, if Allah wills.[Ali 'Imran 3:134] This is the summary of what the brothers agreed upon, which you reached, which I spoke about, and they are conveying it to you.
Al-Halabi: Our brotherThe Shaykh : Yusuf al-Ghuwairi, may Allah reward him with good, said, "I proposed, I said, meaning, if there is a gathering for da'wah, he said, 'I do not wantThe Shaykh : him to think that I invited him for this topic, so this is something that came up afterwards, and my love for the Shaykh is such and such.' We said, 'By Allah, we are proud of this, and praise be to Allah, so the man, glory be to Allah, is concerned, and say the same for him, and may Allah reward him with good.'"
The Shaykh : How much today resembles yesterday, how much today resembles yesterday. You are rewarded in any case, and it is sufficient for you that you are not blamed. You think that these issues are individual and personal, and then you build castles and palaces upon them. And I have a long speech on this matter, but how did it come to your minds that if reconciliation happens between al-Albani and al-Barqawi, al-Barqawi the madman returns to being a sound person? How did this come to your minds?
The questioner : There are many things.
The Shaykh : What many things?
The questioner : I mean, one of these things is that the man now, all our brothers do not come to him, he has no respect in their eyes, but if he returns to the methodology, and he will not return except through his reconciliation with you.
The Shaykh : Do you believe he will return to the methodology just because I allow it and forgive him?
The questioner : I mean, I have nothing certain, but it will be at least less bad than what he is now.
Al-Halabi : I mean, he will not even be able to speak boldly and with taste in front of people, and so on, and we will have an entry point to him in his house.
The Shaykh : You are the ones who gave us the translation, not me, that the man is mad.
The questioner : And more.
The Shaykh : Okay, how am I supposed to reconcile with a madman, and you are asking for a non-madman to reconcile with a madman in this unequal reconciliation, and you build castles and palaces upon it? How is that?
The questioner : We want him to be silent.
Al-Halabi : And he will not be silent except by you...
The Shaykh : I do not believe in this talk. I consider this talk poetic and imaginary. This talk is poetic and imaginary. This is from one side, and there are other sides, among them: Did you speak with al-Barqawi as you speak with al-Albani? Of course not.
The questioner : We boycotted him for the sake of Allah... al-Ghuwairi spoke with him... in your language...
The Shaykh : Okay, what is his position? I mean, now you are the first mediators mediating for reconciliation.
The questioner: No.
The Shaykh : So he still holds his opinion. What is the benefit? You want a Syrian-style reconciliation, a kiss on the beard, and what remains in the hearts stays as it was.
Another questioner : What is the disagreement withThe Shaykh ؟
The Shaykh : O Shaykh, when we were in Sham, we came here to al-Rusayfah, I think, we held a Salafi conference, I do not know when, you were not present, you did not attend with us in al-Rusayfah in Jordan?
The questioner : No
The Shaykh : Our brotherEid Abbasi : and Yusuf Khashan and others attended, people, and non-Salafis, some of them from the Tahrir Party, and this Yusuf al-Barqawi attended.
The questioner : I do not know Yusuf al-Barqawi.
The Shaykh : You do not know him? He used to teach at the Islamic University, and I, when I would visit Jordan, he would not address me except as "our Shaykh" and "our teacher." I clearly remember that once we held a gathering in his house, and he had prepared food, what do you call it?
Al-Halabi : Musakhan.
The Shaykh : Musakhan, you know what that is. And when we would deliver lessons in Zarqa or in a place near al-Rusayfah, when our brother Zarzar and Abu Bilal... the man would attend the lessons.
The questioner : Is he Jordanian?
The Shaykh : He is of Palestinian origin, is that not so? But he has been in Jordan for a long time. The important thing... he was... criticizing al-Albani and claiming that he contradicts the consensus, and so on. So he attended... who took advantage of the opportunity? My son-in-law Nizam said to Shaykh Yusuf in front of the gathering, "You are saying aboutThe Shaykh : such and such, that he contradicted the consensus and that he is mistaken, and he permits such and such, and it is forbidden. The issue was about masturbation, whether it breaks the fast or not. Nizam said to him, 'Please, let us be on the right path,' and we entered into a discussion with him. He, first of all, without research, he is, as they say, 'Abu Sayah' in the Shami style.
The questioner : Did Abu Sayah pass away?
The Shaykh : No, he is still in Riyadh. The point is, imagine if he entered into a discussion, especially if he felt he was being defeated in the matter, and that is what happened. He left the session very nervous, and some of our brothers followed him, and we do not know if they were sincere with us or not, Allah knows them best, but they later reported that he threatened, meaning, 'I will show you what al-Albani is,' this is what the people thought of him, love for the Shaykh, and so on. And I went to Sham, and lo and behold, a letter was sent to me, turning the topic upside down. The topic was that masturbation breaks the fast or not, he turned it into that I say it is permissible, masturbation in Ramadan and outside Ramadan. This was a written letter that I had, but unfortunately, many of the letters that were in the drawers were not sent, and these are our good brothers, as you saw today, you know their methods, enthusiasm and heat, and so on. And naturally, for them to be two heads, meaning distant, butting heads, wanting to reconcile as much as they could, but not knowing how the reconciliation should be.
The questioner : He is not a head, O Shaykh.
The Shaykh : It is not so.
The questioner : He is not a head, and it is not correct for him to be among your peers, nor is it correct for him to be among your students.
The Shaykh : No problem.
Another questioner : Okay, is he now ready to...
Al-Halabi : LetThe Shaykh : him finish.
The Shaykh : Be patient, I am going to finish for you, so that you know that the group is striking cold iron. Always news and greetings come to me from him, like our old friend, and my answer is always what? "And peace be upon those who follow the guidance." The mediators multiplied, and I am asking them for something I am ready to receive the man on the condition that he admits to his lie which he wrote in the letter and returns the original copy that he has, and admits that this was not the topic of the discussion, and that this is a fabrication which is not permissible. Al-Albani's condition was known to all the mediators.
The questioner : This is a just request.
The Shaykh : The important thing, the good man, our friend, may Allah bless him and remember him with good,The Shaykh : al-Husayn, and I was surprised one day the bell rang, I came outThe Shaykh : Sa'd andThe Shaykh : Abd al-Ra'uf 'Abush andThe Shaykh : Nasser al-Banna, a young man from among our Salafi brothers, if Allah wills, and Yusuf al-Barqawi. I said, "Welcome, please proceed," except for Yusuf. This came like a bolt from the blue before Yusuf, regardingThe Shaykh : Sa'd al-Sakkin, even though it was reported to me that they told Shaykh Sa'd, "Do not go to him."The Shaykh : He had a condition for him, but the matter overtook him. The bottom line is that Sa'd returned with Yusuf. Who came out? Al-Abush and al-Banna. Al-Abush was present at the Salafi conference, and what was the topic of the research? I mentioned it to him. I said to him, "Do you remember the topic? It was about whether he breaks his fast or not? It was not about whether it is lawful or forbidden. He wrote to me in writing that you permit masturbation by hand, and our brothers know that this is forbidden in my view. So I was setting conditions, but he said, 'By Allah, I have no news of that.' I said, 'Now you have news.' He said, 'I am going to him, I am going down to him.' He went down to him and returned, but I,
The questioner: They are still there.
The Shaykh: They are waiting in the car.
The questioner: Shaykh, is this conversation taking place in your house?
The Shaykh : Ah.
AThe questioner : With whom?
The Shaykh: Al-Abush went down and after a while he returned... but in my opinion, he returned empty-handed. May Allah do good, if Allah wills. He said, "It will be good," but it was the talk of a despairing person, meaning. We told him, "May Allah do good, if Allah wills," and the two of them went down, and the other brother, Nasser al-Banna, gave them a few words.
The questioner: But if I were to receive them, and show them the problem, and put it under the reality.
The Shaykh: ... Because we always say that the one who is handed the stick is not like the one who is after it. We see in spiritual and material matters; we used to see matches, these have a party and these have a party... we bring it from an external angle. He goes crazy, yes. Why didn't he do this? If you were in his place, you would have done something worse than this. That one is attacking, unlike the one here who is sitting and beating around the bush... and the one after the stick is not like the one who eats it, and as they say, the one who has not tasted it does not know what the story is. And we are still at our condition, with all... whoever insists on his misguidance and his false accusation does not yield...
The questioner: ...the pure one, if he makes a mistake, he says, "I made a mistake." Ibn al-Arabi al-Maliki tells a very important and beautiful story. I do not know if you know the story, perhaps it has passed you by.
The Shaykh: It has passed me, but...
The questioner: He says, in the first group of students of knowledge...
The Shaykh : ...
The questioner: No, no, Cairo. Then he came to pray the 'Asr prayer in the mosque, so he entered the mosque and found it full of people. One of the scholars was teaching, so I prayed 'Asr in one of the corners of the mosque, then I sat and listened with the people until the lesson ended and the people stood up, and I stood up with the people, and I went outThe Shaykh : from the door of the mosque, and the close ones, meaning the accompanying students, went out with him, and they walked withThe Shaykh : and I walked with them until they reached the house ofThe Shaykh : , he opensThe Shaykh : the door and enters, and the people who accompanied him enter with him, and I was about to enter with those who entered. Before we enter the hallway, he is in the house, he stopsThe Shaykh : and looks at me, as I am a strange man, and says, "Your brother is like a strange man with a question or something." So the people leave him, and they go, and I remain andThe Shaykh : , he praysThe Shaykh : the Sunnah prayer, so he says to him, "O Shaykh, I said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) divorced and I believed, and I said I swore an oath to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and I believed, and I said the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) pronounced zihar, and this is an abomination of speech and a lie, because Allah named it." He says, "By Allah, I had not finished my words when he embraced me on his chest and said, 'May Allah reward you, you are my teacher and my instructor,' and he began to praise him. He said, 'Then I bid him farewell. The next day I came to the same mosque, and the mosque was crowded with the scholar teaching. He says, 'By Allah, I had not reached the door of the mosque whenThe Shaykh : his gaze fell upon me, so he interrupted the lesson and said, 'Welcome to my teacher and instructor and guide,' and he made me sit next to him, and he placed me beside him, and I became more shy. He said, 'He made me sit next to him,' and he said to them, 'Yesterday I said in the lesson that it is such and such and such, and no one refuted me except this man, may Allah reward him with good. He was the one who was right and I was wrong,' and he sat praising him in front of the people. This story is found in al-Ahkam.
Al-Halabi: Yes, it is found in Ahkam al-Quran.
The questioner: So look, the sincere one admits and says, "I made a mistake," and this indicates the sincerity of the person and the soundness of his heart and soul.
Al-Halabi: There is a similar story in the biography of al-Anbari, Abu Bakr al-Anbari. He was sitting in a session teaching his students hadith and such, so he made a mistake in the precise wording of a man's name or the naming of a man, so one of the young men from the students of hadith, who was al-Mustamli, stood up and said to him, meaningThe Shaykh : he made a mistake in such and such, so instead of correcting such and such, he said such and such. So he looked at him and said, "I will informThe Shaykh : of this," so he said, "Then informThe Shaykh : so he saidThe Shaykh : let us review our sources. So he reviewed his sources, and if the truth was with this young man, he said, "Point him out to me in the next session." So he pointed him out to him, and he stood up in the middle of the people and said, "This young man has pointed out to me such and such, and I made a mistake in it in the previous session, so may Allah reward him with good. This young man later became al-Daraqutni.
The Shaykh: What Allah willed, what Allah willed.
The questioner: Sincerity and truthfulness bring good results.
The questioner: Of course, our brother al-Ghuwairi, our second brother is Ali al-Makawi, known among the brothers, they are good and their creed is Salafi, and the man is good. Of course, he is on good terms withThe Shaykh : Yusuf al-Barqawi, so what concerns us first, as brothers, is to win them over or something, more... for example, tell them, "What is the opinion ofThe Shaykh : the last one? So that first we let them know that I spoke withThe Shaykh : and we mentioned your request to the Shaykh, and consequentlyThe Shaykh : he has no objection, but he has some conditions, and we also wantThe Shaykh : and take them into consideration.
The Shaykh: And if he tells you something, do not say it with your eyes?
Another questioner: I see that if he wants to make peace withThe Shaykh : and with him, first he must admit that he made a mistake, and second, it is necessary thatThe Shaykh : Sa'd be with them.
Al-Halabi: The brothers proposed this, by the way, they agreed that it is necessary thatThe Shaykh : Sa'd be with us, a beloved and virtuous man.
The Shaykh: Look, Abu Ahmad, these are from the dervishes whom they talk to you about. You must know them well. Let them tell you what was presented to the court, the intelligence, the Endowments, and the Minister of the Interior. Listen, and then judge for yourself that it is good for one to make a reconciliation with him in the style of a moustache kiss, and these young men mediate.
The questioner : No, by Allah.
Al-Halabi: ... the reality... but one thing reminds me of another.
The questioner: Did he give you a pledge and a covenant and some words that he will return from his mistake in his statement?
The Shaykh: There is nothing of this talk.
Al-Halabi: But we, from the standpoint of truth, and truth is spoken, for years he was on the path and Allah benefited many people through him, and this is not denied. And Allah benefited many people through him, so he used to speak about the Sufis and about tawhid (the oneness of Allah), he spoke about...
The Shaykh: O Abu Ahmad, do not be lost with the lost.
Abu Ahmad: No, I am not lost among the lost, if Allah wills.
The Shaykh: If... what do you want to do?
Abu Ahmad: ...
The Shaykh: No, it means you are lost. Is the talk for you or for him?
The questioner: Any talk.
The Shaykh: Turn the talk.
The questioner: Turn the talk to him.
The Shaykh: We did not tell you that these are the talk of dervishes. Listen to what you heard from them.
The questioner: I heard that he was a Salafi and a good man.
The Shaykh: Is that the end of the matter?
The questioner: No, it is not over.
The Shaykh: Okay, listen...
Al-Halabi: We even used to sit in his gatherings, and he would talk about some of our brothers, meaning he would say, "If I am absent, ask this brother, and he is one of our Salafi brothers." Meaning he trusted him and trusted us, and we went to his house repeatedly and he visited us repeatedly, and so on. But even he allowed some of our brothers to teach, and said, "You are the most deserving people to teach," and books would come to him from Saudi Arabia which he would distribute to us, and good things. But, glory be to Allah, the man began to turn around slowly, especially when Allah honored this country with the presence of our Shaykh (may Allah preserve him). Meaning the brothers began to see things, meaning they saw the methodology ofThe Shaykh : (may Allah preserve him), the evidence, the proof, the argument with argument, and the explanation, and so on; whileThe Shaykh : Yusuf says, "In this issue there are four opinions, and in this issue there are three opinions," so people become confused, and so on. Consequently, the brothers' sitting with him decreased, and the brothers began to sit in the lessons ofThe Shaykh : Al-Albani, and he received knowledge from him, and likewise. So the man began to mumble, to make a fuss in his speech, and to attack him to the end. We, I mean, Allah is our witness, we were committed to silence; we were committed to silence... May Allah guide us and him, and grant us and him success. Until one day I was sitting in the mosque with some of the brothers, and a brother came and said: Is it true that the Shaykh of the Salafis in this country does not pray in the mosque that has a mihrab? I said: If he intendsThe Shaykh : , I said, who says this? He said:The Shaykh : Yusuf al-Barqawi says it in public. I said: This statement is not true if he intendsThe Shaykh : Nasser, forThe Shaykh : Nasser prays in all the mosques, and if he intendsThe Shaykh : Muhammad Shuqra, Abu Malik, in his own mosque, in the mihrab, so this is what I do not think. He said: Okay, and he came back after a while again and said: Is it true that you say you want to demolish the mihrabs in the mosques and the minbars? I said: Subhan Allah, this is a great slander. We do not do this, and we pray in this mosque and all the mosques have such things, but we say the Sunnah regarding the mihrab or the minbar is such and such, but that does not mean that we want to demolish it and so on. The important thing is that the man publicizes this in public and so on. So I consulted some of the brothers, I said to them, let us explain this point to him, and I will tell him, O Shaykh, this statement is not true. And there had never been any quarrel or dispute between me and him, or between me and other brothers, it never happened. So once I was sitting in his gathering, I raised my hand and said to him, excuse me, O Shaykh, excuse me, O Professor, I want to ask a question. He said, get out, you and your Shaykh. You are ignorant, I want your Shaykh. Your Shaykh is ignorant. You are evading the discussion. You are showing off fitnah. You attacked me in my official work and so on and so on. And he started talking. I said: O my dear brother, this statement is something anyone can do. If you want to talk, let us talk with the Book and the Sunnah, and the evidence now. He said: You are below me, I know more than you, and what is this and so on. Then he took his cloak and kept going out, and we, as our Shaykh said, "O heedless one, Allah is with you." And then, after a few days, the police were searching, and they had put my brother in prison until they catch me.
The Shaykh: Allahu Akbar.
Al-Halabi: They had put my brother in prison until they catch me. We went and we calledThe Shaykh : Abu Malik - may Allah reward him with good and remember him with good - we called him and he got my brother out of prison. And he went to the police station and the police chief and the intelligence chief, and he was wearing a thobe, and he told the governor and the intelligence chief and the police chief that these people want to stir up fitnah, and regarding a pillar of religion, and the head of their gang is a man named Al-Albani and so on and so on, and very strange things. Until the matter reached us, we were chained in the matter, to the Minister of the Interior. And the Minister of the Interior accepted us personally, and every day it gets worse. The last thing, yesterday in the Friday prayer, he said: These people who sit in the corners, these should be expelled by official order of the governor and not remain in the mosques and so on and so on. Meaning, neither silence is useful nor speech is useful. His only condition that ends all conditions and demolishes them, as our brother Yusuf al-Ghuwairi informed us, andThe Shaykh : Ali al-Malkawi, who is his meetingThe Shaykh : Nasser, if you can manageThe Shaykh : Nasser and resolve this problem, everything below it is easy and will disappear. And this is the thing that inflames him, whyThe Shaykh : Nasser is still refusing to meet me, and not allowing me to meet him and so on and so on. This is the summary of the things he did.
The Shaykh: Did you believe?
The questioner: I want to say that these things you mentioned about this man, you went toThe Shaykh : Sa'd, and you told him this story, and through him you can avoid his harm, considering that he...
Al-Halabi : AndThe Shaykh : Sa'd knows many times more than what you mentioned. Once we declared him a disbeliever in front ofThe Shaykh : Sa'd
The questioner: I told Shaykh Ibn Baz, and he wrote him a letter and called him on the phone, but no one answered.
Al-Halabi: The man is not easy, he needsThe Shaykh : Nasser
The questioner: He is not going to stop his harm, considering that his enmity toward Shaykh Nasser
Al-Halabi: By Allah, this is the truth.
The Shaykh: ...and we said another thing, that these hadiths were not told to Yusuf al-Ghuwairi.
The questioner: We toldThe Shaykh : al-Ghuwairi.
Al-Halabi: The same brother al-Ghuwairi, and he is a sincere and noble man, says, by Allah, we ourselves are enough to deal with his harm, what do we need to do, meaning, do we attack him, what do we do?
The Shaykh: No, why, I am attacking him.
Al-Halabi: No, I mean he...
The questioner: May Allah protect you from his harm, call him...
Al-Halabi: No, he cannot bear seeing us or hearing our voices at all, he needs an electric shock.
The Shaykh: Look, are the group ready? ... They say about us in Syria, O Shaykh, Wafiq called it unemployment, this man is arrogant and stubborn, and you are greatly wrong if you look away from all his vices, and you think that as soon as Al-Albani submits to a meeting with him, the person becomes another person. This is fantasy.
Al-Halabi: Okay, so you took oaths and covenants not from us, from those who are responsible for him
The Shaykh: No one is responsible for him, O brother, say you accept, but who is responsible for him, ask them, who is responsible for him.
Al-Halabi: Until now, no, we know no one is responsible for him until now.
The Shaykh : The Shaykh : Wafiq moves it and then in Loubad,
Wafiq: Maybe three together, al-Husayn and al-Ghuwairi and Abu Malik
The Shaykh: And this is the greatest proof of defeat.
The Shaykh: He gives oaths and covenants that he made a mistake andThe Shaykh ...
Abu Layla: The group wants reconciliation, and humility from our professor, may Allah preserve him.
The Shaykh : Halimah has returned to her old habit.
The questioner: In order to be free from the man's harm. This man is possible... we can gain him from us losing him
The Shaykh: ... meaning that I am humble a little, meaning I am arrogant?
The questioner: Excuse me, we do not say this, it was a slip of the tongue from me
The Shaykh: I did not say he should be humbleThe Shaykh : ... I am in Amman and he is in Zarqa, what do I need him for.
The questioner: ... we hear our slander in our ears
The Shaykh: We did not differ
The questioner : And if Allah wills, it will be the conclusion of righteous deeds and many good deeds.
The Shaykh: Amen.
The questioner : So you know, O Shaykh, that Allah has decreed for you... to leave us with a good reputation and forgiveness, and a good reputation and pardon for these people, and you will have the reward, if Allah wills.
and who restrain anger and who pardon the people - and Allah loves the doers of good;
والكاظمين الغيظ ، والعافين عن الناس والله يحب المحسنينAl-Halabi: Our brotherThe Shaykh : Yusuf al-Ghuwairi, may Allah reward him with good, said, "I proposed, I said, meaning, if there is a gathering for da'wah, he said, 'I do not wantThe Shaykh : him to think that I invited him for this topic, so this is something that came up afterwards, and my love for the Shaykh is such and such.' The Shaykh : What many things?
The questioner : I mean, one of these things is that the man now, all our brothers do not come to him, he has no respect in their eyes, but if he returns to the methodology, and he will not return except through his reconciliation with you.
