What is the reason for not responding to those who responded to you?

The questioner : He says: Some books have appeared that respond to and refuteThe Shaykh : (may Allah preserve him), and he did not respondThe Shaykh : to him, so what is the reason? For example, the latest book that came out, which is old, namely "Tanzih al-Muslim," and some other books?
The Shaykh : First of all, my brother, it is not possible that whenever a critic comes to criticize me, whether rightly or wrongly, with knowledge or ignorance, I should devote myself to him. This is absolutely unnatural, especially since I feel that I am approaching the edge of the grave. As it is said, "No matter how long life lasts, I cannot catch up with what I have been engaged in since my infancy."
But despite that, I try to seize opportunities and respond to some of these people when the occasion arises, and I find it an opportunity where a response is necessary. Among these is this man, "Tanzih al-Muslim." I seized the opportunity in my book "Adab al-Zifaf," which is currently being printed in a new edition with many additions. I wrote a lengthy introduction in it because I responded to this man regarding some of the deviations of his pen from the truth in this book. I pointed out his methodology, which is based on ignorance of this knowledge, and I refuted some of the parts in which he criticized me, especially a hadith related to the etiquette of the wedding. This is something I had pointed out as weak, despite being in Sahih Muslim, and it was this hadith that he criticized me for. I seized this opportunity and responded to him, and you will see that, if Allah wills, soon. This is the extent of what I am able to do. As for devoting myself to refuting the entire book, that is not feasible for me. Perhaps some of our brothers who are engaged in this knowledge with activity and leisure—which I do not find in myself—will perform this duty, if Allah wills.
