The Shaykh Al-Albani's comment on Abu Malik's statement and his words regarding those who declare some of the Imams of the Salaf, such as Ibn Taymiyyah, to be disbelievers.

The Shaykh : There is an observation here, may Allah reward you. I said earlier that I do not know if it is with Abu Anas or with someone else, that it is not permissible for us to declare a group disbelievers in a blanket manner; it must be specific. So, I do not know that the early Ash'aris and Maturidis declare the people of the Sunnah and the community to be disbelievers, truly meaning that they declare the people of hadith to be disbelievers, or that they declare the followers of the Salaf to be disbelievers, those who say that the scholars of the Salaf are more knowledgeable and more just. Those people say that the methodology of the Salaf is safer, but they claim that the methodology of the Khalaf is more knowledgeable and more just. Despite this great difference between the Salaf, or the methodology of the Salaf, or the Salafis, and these scholars of kalam who are included in the methodology of the Maturidis and Ash'aris, I do not know that they declare the followers of the methodology of the Salaf to be disbelievers. However, it may be found, especially in the recent times, especially...
Abu Malik: ...

The Shaykh : This is what I wanted to clarify, not to respond. Yes, this is what I wanted to draw the attention of our brothers present to. It may be found in the recent times that some people become extreme in their enmity toward the Salafis, the followers of the righteous Salaf, and out of spite toward them, some individuals among them issue takfir (declaring someone a disbeliever) of the Imams and scholars from the followers of the righteous Salaf, such as Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn al-Qayyim. Whoever it is from whom this has become apparent is truly a disbeliever; he is truly a disbeliever. And this Saqaf, whom some have rightly nicknamed al-Sakhaf, is the one who actually declares takfir not only of Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, but of everyone who follows their path. Sometimes he conceals it and argues, and sometimes he declares it with all his lack of shame and disregard for the scholars of the righteous Salaf. In such a case, this ruling applies to him. Yes.
Abu Malik : And this is what I wanted to mention.

The Shaykh : Yes, may Allah reward you with good.
Abu Malik : And you.

The Shaykh : Ah?

Another questioner : ... a disbeliever. This is a serious ruling, by Allah. This man, specifically, right now.

The Shaykh : Yes, because he has committed disbelief specifically.

Another questioner : But are we in a time where we do not declare disbelievers those who declare us disbelievers? But has the argument been established against this man?

The Shaykh : How could it not be? Allahu Akbar.

Another questioner : Meaning, have you had gatherings with him?

The Shaykh : We have not had any gatherings with our brother, and I do not know who was with him.

Another questioner : Other than that debate?

The Shaykh : No, but this one, my brother, knows the truth and deviates from it. He distorts the words from their places. He is not one of those about whom confusion was cast, as we said earlier that we must seek to verify and know the truth so that we can say to him, "You have erred" or "You have committed disbelief." This is not of that type. I do not know, it seems that you are not following up, meaning...

Another questioner : I have come across the man's misguidances and his great lies, but the issue of his takfir...

The Shaykh : It is not only from the aspect of 'aqidah (creed), but from the aspect of distorting the words.

Another questioner : Lying; I have come across a lot of it, much of this.

The Shaykh : This...

Another questioner : But the disbelief...

The Shaykh : Ah, Allahu Akbar, yes.
