If the mu'adhdhin calls the adhan for the true dawn and a person has food in his hand that he is eating, does he finish eating it or what?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : If the mu'adhdhin calls the adhan for the Fajr prayer and a Muslim has food in his hand, does he eat it or refrain from eating it? He means the true dawn.

The Shaykh : I corrected what was in my mind, but there is no harm in mentioning what was in my mind. I intended to say that if it is this adhan today, let him eat and fill himself as much as he desires to be full. However, the question was corrected at the end, and it was said: meaning the true dawn. So the answer in that case is in his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
If one of you hears the call and the vessel is in his hand, let him not put it down until he has satisfied his need from it.
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 4:52
If one of you hears the call and the vessel is in his hand, let him not put it down until he has satisfied his need from it.
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 4:52
And this call is the call we mentioned earlier in the hadith of Bilal and Ibn Abi Amr ibn Isha.

The questioner : Ibn Umm Maktum

The Shaykh : Ibn Umm Maktum. There is a difference of opinion regarding his name; some say his name was 'Amr, and some say his name was 'Abd Allah, and the correct one is the first: 'Umar ibn Umm Maktum. What did the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) say in his hadith:
so eat and drink (Suhur) till Ibn Um Maktum pronounces the Adhan.
Sahih al-Bukhari 622, 623
If you have eaten and are satisfied, put down the cup or the glass or whatever is in your hand. But if you are not satisfied, this hadith we mentioned earlier gives you leeway and room to continue drinking from it or eating from it until you have taken what you need from it. I repeat the hadith:
If one of you hears the call and the vessel is in his hand, let him not put it down until he has satisfied his need from it.
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 4:52
So it is permissible for a person to eat, and even if he sees the true dawn with his own eyes, as long as he has not taken what he needs from his food and drink.

The questioner : What if he had a plate in his hand?

The Shaykh : I mean what I am saying!

The questioner : I want to clarify for the brothers!

The Shaykh : Food or drink, yes,

The questioner : A plate or a glass of water?

The Shaykh : Yes, exactly.

The questioner : Meaning, if it was in his hand, well, what if it was not in his hand but on the ground?

The Shaykh : This is apparent; whether it is in his hands, on a table, or on the ground, the 'illah (operative cause) is mentioned in the hadith:
till he fulfils his need
Sunan Abi Dawud 2350Hasan Sahih (Al-Albani)
!

The questioner: Allah is the Greatest!

The Shaykh : And praise be to Allah, yes.

Another questioner : Until he is full.

The Shaykh : It is for him to satisfy his need from it.
