Denying that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is in a place and affirming His exaltedness
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As we all know, despite the differences among Islamic sects, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) existed and there was nothing with Him; there was no time and no place. Then Allah (Mighty and Majestic) created place and time. Therefore, there is no doubt or ambiguity that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is not in a place. However, what must be noted is that if this attribution to the Habashites is correct, this brief word reveals that it is a word of truth intended to be used for falsehood. That is, their claim that place is created and it is inconceivable that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) would be situated in a created thing is a correct statement. But it is a word of truth intended to be used for falsehood. What is the falsehood intended by this word? They want to deny Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) of His attributes and His names, which are explicitly stated in the Qur'an and the authentic Sunnah. We say with them that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is not in a place. But do they say with us, as Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said in the Qur'an: [Taha 20:5] Do they say with us the noble verse: [Fatir 35:10] Do they say with us, as our Lord said: [Al-Ma'arij 70:4] Do they say? Do they say? The answer, unfortunately, is no. So that is a word of truth intended to be used for falsehood. Now it will become clear to you, and to anyone to whom some of the doubts of those Habashites may have seeped, that we will say that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has described in these verses, and others, and in many, very many hadiths, that He has the attribute of exaltedness. That He (Blessed and Exalted is He) has the attribute of exaltedness. Therefore, the one who prays, when he prostrates, says "Subhan Rabbi al-A'la" (Glory be to my Lord, the Most High). And among the etiquette of recitation in the night prayer, in the prayer of the night, when the imam recites: [Al-A'la 87:1] the followers behind him should say "Subhan Rabbi al-A'la." And similar to that are many texts in the Book and the Sunnah that are decisive in indicating that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has the attribute of exaltedness over all created things. Do they say, along with their claim that Allah is not in a place, that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) rose above the Throne? They do not say that. The reason returns to two matters, and as they say, the sweeter of the two is bitter. Either this matter returns to a deviation in thought and intellect, or even to a deficiency in intellect and understanding. Or the intention is to destroy Islam in its strongest aspect, which is the creed related to Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He). And as you know, the sweeter of the two is bitter. Whether their statement is that they deny what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) explicitly stated in those verses and texts, which we mentioned and which we did not mention, that Allah has the attribute of exaltedness, their denial of this attribute is either a deficiency in intellect, understanding, and knowledge, or it is a plot against Islam and Muslims. So the sweeter of the two is bitter. We will now say that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is not in a place He created after it was non-existent. This is a truth with no doubt or ambiguity. But is Allah (Mighty and Majestic) above all created things and He is not in a place? There is no necessary connection. And here the ignorance or plot of these people appears. There is absolutely no necessary connection between affirming the attribute of exaltedness for Allah (Mighty and Majestic) over all created things and His being in a place. Because when "place" is mentioned, it is intended to mean something that was preceded by non-existence and then Allah (Mighty and Majestic) created it. So these people who begin their speech with philosophical discourse: is place created or not created? Yes, it is created. Is it fitting for Allah (Mighty and Majestic) to be in a place He created? The answer is no, it is not fitting. So how can it be said that Allah is in a place? We say no Muslim says that Allah is in a place except those who deviate from the Book and the Sunnah.
The Most Merciful [who is] above the Throne established.
