What is the ruling on women playing the hand drum?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Please go ahead.

The questioner : If we permit it as a custom for women to sing and play the hand drum, that is a means for this sound to reach the men. Do we forbid them from doing so, or is it a dispensation?

The Shaykh : No, we do not forbid them, but we advise them not to exaggerate in this as much as possible, because this is an exception to what is usually forbidden. You know that playing the hand drum is forbidden, right? But it is permitted on the occasion of marriage, and likewise, permissible singing by women is permitted on this occasion. So we cannot forbid women from something that Allah or His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has made permissible for them. Rather, we try to soften the matter as much as possible so that we combine achieving the benefit and repelling the harm that you are hinting at in your words. Yes.

The questioner : The ruling on rings without a stone.

The Shaykh : Rings without a stone, yes, do you mean what is called the engagement ring, or in general?

The questioner : No, the engagement ring is known to be what?

The Shaykh : In general, I am telling you in general, there is no difference whether it is like this or like that, it does not matter to you in the matter, there is no difference like this or like that. It is the ring in its entirety. If you live while wearing a ring, or if you live while not wearing a ring, be at ease. Likewise, if you live wearing a ring with a gem, or with a stone, or with a jewel, or without a stone, jewel, or gem, it is like the other. (laughs)The Shaykh : Is the answer clear, or is there something in your mind that you do not see as weak? May Allah reward you with good, oh sheikhs. (laughs)The Shaykh : Request for clarification. The Shaykh The Shaykh : Request for clarification, then it will be your turn. I said, and one of the hardest things...

The questioner : I am a Circassian.

The Shaykh : Clarifying what is already clear.

The Shaykh : I said, and I am like your story, what is the difference between you and me? You are a Circassian and I am an Albanian.

The questioner : The difference is that you are a scholar and I am ignorant.

The Shaykh : Ah, but you did not say you are a scholar and I am ignorant, you said I am a Circassian. (laughs)The Shaykh : And the students. And so I told you I am an Albanian, and you knew that this weapon does not cut, and you changed your phrase like your companion and others. The point is, I said if a person lived wearing a ring his whole life, and another lived without wearing a ring his whole life, both are equal. The one who lived and died wearing a ring is not closer to Allah than the one who lived without wearing a ring. And I explained to you that the one who lived with a ring having a stone, a gem, and a jewel, and another who lived with a ring without a stone, gem, or jewel, both are equal. Did I explain it to you? Is the matter clear to you now? Meaning, did the repetition provide benefit?

The questioner : A man who had intercourse with his wife at the beginning and end of Ramadan.

The Shaykh : One expiation.

The questioner : One.

The Shaykh: Yes.
