Refutation of those who claim that Iblis was among the angels.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : ... Regarding their claim that the accursed Iblis was among the angels, this claim contradicts the Noble Qur'an. Because it explicitly states:
He was of the jinn and departed from the command of his Lord كَانَ مِنَ الْجِنِّ فَفَسَقَ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِ
[Al-Kahf 18:50]
. We mention this as a digression; otherwise, whether he was among the nearest angels or among the believing jinn, he was in fact a believer and obedient. Where do we understand this from? From the saying of the Exalted, after He said:
He was of the jinn and departed from the command of his Lord كان من الجن ففسق عن أمر ربه
[Al-Kahf 18:50]
, because fisq (open sinfulness) is the departure from obedience. This is derived from the Arabs' saying "the snake fisq'd," meaning it came out of the covering it wrapped itself in when it curled up in its hole during the winter days. When the time for coming out arrives, it fisq's, meaning it comes out of this covering.
The point is, what drove Iblis out of those obedient, believing jinn was his fisq (open sinfulness) regarding the command of his Lord, Blessed and Exalted is He. What I intended with this word was to draw the attention of our brother Munir to the fact that this error of his was the blessing of the entire lecture. We do not consider it to be understood as a sin, but we say: perhaps a sin begets humiliation, but this is not a sin; it is a custom. People, especially those who consider themselves a Muslim group with special traditions based on their tastes rather than the Sunnah of their Prophet, saw them doing this and did the same. This is not like the first group, whom we passed over without discussing, because their fisq (open sinfulness) and departure from the religion is very clear. Therefore, we say that this small error resulted in great good, and praise be to Allah.
