Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Ibrahim Abu Hamid says: There are people who go to the graveyards immediately after the Eid prayer to greet their deceased, and this is done continuously in every Eid. What is the ruling on this practice? May you be rewarded.

The Shaykh : The ruling is that it has no basis in the practice of the righteous predecessors. Believing that it is a sunnah makes it a religious innovation. However, this is something people have become accustomed to, and students of knowledge should alert them that it is not prescribed. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not go out on the day of Eid to visit the graves, nor did he order his Ummah to go out to visit the graves. Any act of worship that the Messenger (may Allah’s prayer and peace be upon him) did not perform, meaning anything by which a person worships Allah, is a religious innovation if it is not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Yes.
