The questioner : What is the ruling on hanging Qur'anic verses or Prophetic hadiths on the walls, or the Name of Allah, or the name of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), for the sake of reminding people of them?

The Shaykh : For the sake of reminding people?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Ah, some of the examples you mentioned are certainly not suitable to be justified by the excuse of reminding people. For example, hanging the Name of Allah. But we say that if there are people who are heedless of certain Qur'anic texts or Prophetic hadiths, then it is permissible and prescribed to hang them for the sake of reminding people of them, due to their heedlessness, as a means of reminding the heedless. As for hanging something that is well-known to people, and the clearest example is that it has become a condition for every mihrab built in any mosque to write in beautiful thuluth script
Every time Zechariah entered upon her in the prayer chamber كلما دخل عليها زكريا المحراب

So if the need and the temporal and spatial benefit are seen, a verse is written on a wall as a reminder, until the verse or the hadith becomes, with the passage of time, a piece of the wall from which no benefit is derived in terms of remembrance. At that time, it is removed and a replacement is put in its place if the benefit is found. This is my opinion regarding this matter.

The questioner : What about a woman wearing a short garment that exposes the leg or part of it, and the many Western models that women take from fashion magazines? Is this considered imitating the disbelievers if she is not displaying her adornment before non-mahrams?

The Shaykh : I don't know, it seems contradictory. How can she not be displaying her adornment when she is not covering her leg with a garment or a jilbab?

The questioner : Among women, I mean.

The Shaykh : Ah, among women? Was the question about among women?

The questioner : The meaning is among women, meaning some women adorn themselves and decorate themselves at a women's party or a women's gathering, so they wear short clothes. May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : I understood you. The answer now is: if she adheres to what Allah has permitted for a woman to show...
