Ruling on Writing Verses and Hadiths on the Walls of Mosques

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! What is the ruling on writing verses and hadiths on the walls of mosques?
This causes confusion for people. As for writing verses on the walls, whether in mosques or elsewhere, it is a religious innovation (bid'ah). It was not reported from the Companions that they engraved their walls with verses. Moreover, using verses as engravings on the walls contains an element of disrespecting the words of Allah. Therefore, we find some people writing verses in a way that resembles palaces, minarets, mosques, or the like, shaping the writing to look like a palace. There is no doubt that this is playing with the Book of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Then, even if it were written in comprehensible Arabic, that is not the way of the Salaf. What is the benefit of writing it on the wall? Some people say: It serves as a reminder for people. So we say: The reminder is done through speech, not by writing verses. Then, sometimes it is written on the wall:
or backbite each otherوَلا يَغْتَبْ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضاً
[Surah al-Hujurat: 12] And you will find those under this verse backbiting about people, so it becomes like mocking the verses of Allah.
So, writing verses in mosques and on the walls of houses is all a religious innovation (bid'ah) that was not practiced in the era of the Salaf.
As for writing hadiths, in the mosque, if they are on the qiblah, there is no doubt that they cause confusion. There may be a glance, even from some of the ma'mum (those praying behind the imam), at them during the prayer. The scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) disliked a person writing anything on the qiblah of the mosque. As for in the house, there is no harm in writing a hadith that contains benefit, such as the expiation (kaffarah) of the gathering: (Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika, ashhadu an la ilaha illa anta, astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk) This serves as a reminder.
