The Shaykh : Here, it is necessary to remind you that what is mentioned in some books of hadith and books of biography is that what turned the polytheists of Quraysh away, after they had been guided to follow the tracks, from thinking that the sought-after person or persons were in the cave, was their claim that they saw the pigeon had nested and laid eggs, and the spider had also spun its threads. They said, “It is not possible that anyone is in this cave,” and they left. This did not become authentic according to the methodology of the people of hadith. It did not become authentic in the first place. Then, there is a strong report that Allah the Exalted commanded an angel to cover the mouth of the cave with his wing, and therefore they did not see them.
