The Shaykh : And among the virtues of this month is that it contains the Night of Decree, about which Allah the Exalted said:
(1) Indeed, We sent the Qur'an down during the Night of Decree. (2) And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? (3) The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. (4) The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. (5) Peace it is until the emergence of dawn. إنا أنزلناه في ليلة القدر وما أدراك ما ليلة القرد ، ليلة القدر خير من ألف شهر تنزل الملائكة والروح فيها بإذن ربهم من كل أمر سلام هي حتى مطلع الفجر
[Al-Qadr 97:1-5]
This night is described by Allah the Exalted as blessed, in which He bestows blessings upon the believers. It has signs: present signs and subsequent signs. As for the present signs, it is a luminous night, meaning that light is abundant in it due to the frequent descent of the angels. It is also a calm night in which the believer finds rest, tranquility, and turning toward Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Among its signs is that when a person turns to Allah in it, he finds greater pleasure than if he turned to Allah in any other night, because it is a blessed night in which deeds are better than a thousand months. As for its subsequent signs, the sun rises from its morning without rays, unlike the other nights, as stated in Sahih Muslim in the hadith of Abu al-Dahdah (may Allah be pleased with him).
