Clarification that qunut in the witr prayer is not obligatory.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Similarly, there are some imams who intentionally leave out the qunut in the witr prayer, and this is also part of their jurisprudence to make it clear to the general public that qunut in the witr is not obligatory, because demonstrating it through action is more eloquent than explaining it through words. Demonstrating it through action is more eloquent than explaining it through words. So, when the imam shows people such matters through his action, much good is achieved and knowledge of Allah’s Shari'ah is gained. Accordingly, we say that it is permissible for a person in the witr prayer to recite Surah al-Kafirun, Surah al-Ikhlas, and Surah al-Kawthar, or to recite other surahs, and there is no blame on him for that. It is also permissible to leave out the qunut in the witr; in fact, that is preferable in order to make it clear to people that qunut is not obligatory. All right.
