The Shaykh : What a person afflicted with this should do is turn away from it and not pay attention to it, because when this condition was complained to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)—that a man feels in himself that he has broken his purity—he said: "Do not leave the mosque until you hear a sound or find a smell," meaning until you are certain. So what a person should do is turn away from these waswas (whispers) and not pay attention to them, and they will go away, with the permission of Allah. As for following these waswas, and a person going to look at the place of discharge when something is unclear to him, this is from waswas and excessive strictness. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: So you should turn away from this and not pay attention to it, and you will be cured, with the permission of Allah.
