Mentioning the evidence for affirming that the believers will see their Lord on the Day of Resurrection

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And in this verse there is a great and significant issue regarding the attributes of Allah, and who is it that mentions it? Yes.
Affirming the seeing of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, that Allah the Exalted is seen, but the seeing of Allah does not occur except in the Hereafter. The seeing of the believers of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, in the Hereafter is established by the Qur'an, by the Sunnah, and by the consensus of the Salaf, and none of them denied it. In the Book of Allah there are several verses indicating that Allah, Glorified and Exalted, is seen directly with the eyes, directly. Among them is this verse:
No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned.كلا إنهم عن ربهم يومئذٍ لمحجوبون
[Al-Mutaffifin 83:15]
The pronoun in His saying "indeed they" refers to the wicked. And if the wicked are veiled from Allah, that indicates that the righteous are not veiled from Allah, because if they were veiled from Allah, there would be no difference between them and the wicked, and there would be no benefit in specifying the veiling of the wicked from Allah. And we do not know any benefit for this except that the righteous look upon Allah. For this reason, al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "What the wicked are veiled from in the state of anger is only so that the believers or the righteous may see Him in the state of pleasure." And among them is His saying, the Exalted:
On adorned couches, observing. على الأرائك ينظرون
[Al-Mutaffifin 83:23]
So this verse is used by the people of the Sunnah as evidence for the seeing of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. The point is that the object was omitted in it; the omission of the object in it is valid, meaning the one being looked at was not mentioned. And if it is in the context of praise or in the context of eulogy, then the greatest, best, and sweetest thing to look at is Allah, Mighty and Majestic. For this reason, the believers find nothing sweeter than looking at the Face of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. I ask Allah not to deprive us and you of it.
