Discussion on the believers seeing their Lord on the Day of Resurrection.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : When you asked about the saying of Allah the Exalted:
On adorned couches, observing. على الأرائك ينظرون
[Al-Mutaffifin 83:23]
, does this mean they are looking at their Lord? The answer is yes, but there are clearer texts establishing the principle of the vision than this verse. We do not need to mention any of them now, because I do not believe that anyone present, at least, has any doubt that the believers will see their Lord on the Day of Resurrection. Even those who deny the attributes by way of figurative interpretation, such as the Asha'irah and the Maturidiyyah, for example, whom you cite and with whom the argument is established against them, believe in the believers seeing their Lord on the Day of Resurrection, unlike the Mu'tazilah and the Khawarij. These Mu'tazilah and Khawarij deny that the believers will see their Lord on the Day of Resurrection. As for the Maturidiyyah and the Asha'irah, they share with the people of the Sunnah and the people of hadith the faith that the believers will see their Lord on the Day of Resurrection. Here comes the argument that breaks the back of the deniers of Allah’s (Mighty and Majestic) rising above His Throne and His exaltation above His creations. This is because this vision, in which the Maturidiyyah and Asha'irah share with the people of hadith in faith, necessitates affirming the elevation of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and they deny this elevation. So it is said to them: How do you deny the elevation of Allah above His creations, and yet you affirm the vision of the believers of their Lord? How do you conceive of the believers seeing their Lord while you deny the elevation of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) above His creations? This is a contradiction and a conflict. Therefore, you now find that man whose foul smell has filled the noses of all the believers is not touched at all regarding the affirmation of this creed, which is the creed of the believers seeing their Lord, the Lord of the worlds, even though it is the creed of the Asha'irah and the creed of the Maturidiyyah. Why? Because this creed alone is sufficient to invalidate their claim that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is not above the Throne and not above all creations!
So it is obligatory for us to believe in the principle of this vision, as it is established in the Book and the Sunnah and by the consensus of the Salaf and the Khalaf, including the Maturidiyyah and the Asha'irah. As for delving into the details, the believer stops when he has learned what we have learned, namely the hadith of the additional hadith on Friday, and that the believers see their Lord every Friday. So we believe in that, and we are not obligated, and indeed it is not permissible for us, to delve deeper than that. I am pleased, on this occasion, with the saying of one of the scholars of the Hanafi Maturidiyyah, who, as I mentioned earlier, share with the people of hadith in the faith in this great blessing, which is the believers seeing their Lord on the Day of Resurrection. This man, the noble Hanafi Maturidi scholar, said:
"They see Him without asking how, *** without likening Him or giving any example."
"They see Him without asking how, *** without likening Him or giving any example."
This is what I can speak about at this moment in answer to that issue. Anything else? Please.
