Discussion of the festival prayer, its ruling, and how women go out to it.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The second sunnah on the day of the festival is the obligatory sunnah, which is the festival prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded the festival prayer, and he even commanded women to go out for the festival prayer. However, it is not permissible for a woman to come to the festival prayer place while she is wearing makeup, perfumed, adorned, or with her face uncovered, because that is forbidden. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever (woman) fumigates herself with perfume should not join us in the 'Isha' prayer. أيما امرأة أصابت بخوراً فلا تشهد معنا صلاة العشاء
Sahih Muslim 444
So he forbade her from attending the prayer if she had used incense. What do you think of a woman who perfumes herself with the best of perfumes and then comes to the mosque? She is sinful from the time she leaves her house until she returns to it. Satan watches her and beautifies her in the eyes of men until he makes her appear to be among the most beautiful and best of women. He makes her perfume smell better than its actual scent in order to cause distraction. Therefore, it is obligatory for a woman not to go out except in the manner that is permitted. She goes out plain, meaning not adorned, not perfumed, and not displaying her adornment. She walks calmly, does not walk with a seductive gait, and does not speak to men, because that is a source of trial. She attends the prayer only for the blessing that is gathered in this assembly in obedience to Allah the Exalted, in His remembrance and supplication. They witness the good and the supplications of the Muslims. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded menstruating women to stay away from the prayer place, meaning the festival prayer place, because the festival prayer place is a mosque, and it is not permissible for a woman to remain in the mosque while she is menstruating. She may pass through the mosque as a passerby if she is safe from soiling the mosque, but she may not sit in the mosque, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded menstruating women to stay away from the prayer place. So, what did we say? What is this? That is the last thing I said. Rest.
