What is the ruling on firecrackers and rockets (the fireworks used by the common people on the day of Eid)?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The questioner asks: What is the ruling on firecrackers and rockets?

The Shaykh : As for the ruling on rockets, rockets against the enemy are prescribed, based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And prepare against them whatever you are able of power وأعدوا لهم ما استطعتم من قوة
[Al-Anfal 8:60]
May Allah prepare for the Muslims intercontinental missiles so that we may kill the enemies of Allah and our enemies with them. As for the rockets that scream in the markets without any benefit, they are undoubtedly among the harmful matters that disturb people's peace and contain danger, because these rockets contain fire that may fall on carpets or on a gas leak or something else, resulting in fires. They may also fall on a person and harm him. If it were only the sound, that would be sufficient to prohibit them, and the same applies to the firecrackers, as he says. However, I do not see a difference between rockets and firecrackers? Rather,
The student: Rockets fly in the air, firecrackers are on the ground.

The Shaykh : Well, okay, but the sound is the same. In any case, I see that they should be prohibited, but this is up to the rulers. As for the specific rulers, meaning the father, he must prevent his children from using these harmful things. These firecrackers and rockets, as the questioner said, have financial harm because they are bought with money, so there is financial harm for us, and there is economic benefit for those who import these things, meaning they profit from these things. They may incur a cost of a quarter of the value and take from us multiples. Therefore, I urge our brothers, may Allah bless them, to prevent their children from using these harmful things that involve the loss of money without any benefit. Yes.
