What are the sciences whose learning is a collective obligation? Is there any knowledge that all Muslims must know?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What are the sciences whose learning is a collective obligation? Is there any knowledge that all Muslims must know, or that they all should know?

The Shaykh : Yes, preserving the Shari'ah is obligatory for Muslims in general, so there must be among the Muslims those who undertake to preserve the Shari'ah.
As for the individual obligation, it varies. It may be obligatory for one person to learn certain matters of knowledge that are not obligatory for another. For example, one who possesses wealth must learn the rulings of zakah sufficient to clear his conscience, but this is not obligatory for one who has no wealth.
One who engages in buying and selling must learn the rulings of buying and selling sufficient to correct his transactions, but one who does not engage in buying and selling is not required to do so.
The important point is that preserving the Shari'ah by seeking knowledge is a collective obligation for the Muslim community as a whole. As for the individual obligation, it varies according to the people; it may be obligatory for one person what is not obligatory for another, as illustrated previously. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you. The listener also says.
